Do i need to update the bios?

i have compaq presario CQ40 with windows vista installed. i try to downgrade to windows xp but suddenly bluescreen appeared upon installing windows xp (windows is starting mode). what i did was removed the hdd and slave to my cpu to format. when i return the hdd to notebook. I can no longer enter to bios set up.Maghang man kng mosud ko sa bios set-up. if i remove the hdd,mkasud ra man sa bios set-up...defective na ba ang motherboard or ang hdd? or do i need to update the bios?...tnx istoryanz

Nganong mag downgrade man ka sa imong OS bro? try to format daw pag balik then sulod sa Bios ug balik...

Windows XP installation problem in Compaq Presario CQ40-108TU

Compaq Presario CQ40-108TU was launched by HP-Compaq some times in October, 2008. We have received many enquiries regarding installation Windows XP in this machine. Installing Windows XP was not possible at all. There are quite a lot of people who are facing problems with installing Windows XP in this laptop. Here is a solution provided by the manufacturer to rectify this issue. There is no guarantee that this will work perfectly. We have not tried these steps yet. if your copy of Windows XP does not have the AHCI driver slipstreamed by default, it will result to an unmountable boot volume on Windows setup. As for the rest, basin naguba imong hard drive pag move-move. and how were you able to connect your 2.5-inch hard drive to the desktop?
