Corrupt Master File Record

Mga Bros,


got a major problem with my Seagate st3500410AS drive. im unable to access it.

during boot up it says there is a problem with the drive and tries to do CHKDSK but fails.

its a secondary hdd.

when i try to do chkdsk /r for the drive it says "CORRUPT MASTER FILE TABLE".

tried to do CHKDSK /R or CHKDSK /F outside OS and its the same thing.

Any repair ideas besides FORMAT?

Got a lot of stuff in there that i havent backed up

i suggest doing harddisk recovery before doing anything else sa imo drive, matiwasan unya na...

try recuva if makakita ba sya sa imo files...had the same problem before. i just recovered all files before zero-filling the drive...

Master File Table (MFT)

Probably the most important of the key system (metadata) files that define an NTFS volume, the Master File Table or MFT is the place where information about every file and directory on an NTFS volume is stored. The MFT is in essence a relational database table, containing various attributes about different files. It acts as the "starting point" and central management feature of an NTFS volume--sort of a "table of contents" for the volume, if you will. It is somewhat analog to the file allocation table in a FAT partition, but is much more than just a list of used and available clusters.

yup, free ra Recuva, although time consuming iya paagi sa pag recover....

i dont knw unsa ni ka "lala" imo blema ha. kai katu akoa before na repair raman even using chkdsk with no options. try lang i recover kung madala, im sure file system guba ani ra jud..

bai i suggest download Hard Disk Sentinel and install it. Makita na daun if daut jud ang hard drive mo
