in ati's website the 5145 has switchable features like it can use the intel gma in the i3 using software switching.

can this be done in this laptop?

most laptops with ati vc which have mostly the same specs i3 and ati card coming out now are switchable.

If there is an option in bios that has switchable setting so why don't you give a try. I think its possible something like using the onboard and expansion card.

not onboard with external using expansion. im talking about onboard intel and the ati 5145. do you have the choice using software to choose to use intel gma igp for battery saving and then just use the ati 5145 when youre using gpu intensive tasks or gaming.

New laptops have now switchable graphics to save battery, especially when you can't plug it. for some models, you only need to push a button to enable from discrete to onboard and vice versa.
