VIRGINIA – A 50-year-old Filipina is facing murder charges after she threw her 2 ½ granddaughter from a six-storey walkway on Monday.
Carmela Dela Rosa of Fairfax, Virginia was charged with murder after her granddaughter Angelyn Ogdoc, died from her injuries early Tuesday morning.
Fairfax County Police said Dela Rosa was leaving the Tysons Corner Center mall with the girl and 2 adult relatives when she allegedly picked the toddler up and threw her over the railing. Police said this was no accident and the act was intentional.
Investigators have been unable to determine a motive, saying there were no arguments or other incidents that might have led to the tragic death of Ogdoc.
The girl’s father, James Ogdoc, worked at the Starbucks in the mall. Dela Rosa and the toddler had just been to the mall, report said.
Co-workers said the girl seemed happy and well-behaved. Neighbors were shocked saying that Dela Rosa, who often watched the toddler, appeared to be a doting grandmother.
Dela Rosa is in jail without bond and is expected back in court on January 4.
