I'm not really from Oroquieta but i also had a share of my memories there. Here are some:
1. In the late 90's there was only 1 ATM machine in Oroquieta and if i'm not mistaken, its PNB.
2. It was a very small city but you will be surprised sa kadaghan sa motels..
3. When i had my assignment as a Physical Therapy intern, i rented a boarding house near a gasoline station. This is after you cross the bridge entering the city. The boarding house was a 2-storey house owned by an old couple. I'm not sure if the name was Nanay Glo, i forgot na. She was one of the kindest landlady i met.. ila balay kay duol sa river.. That was in 1998. I don't know if they're still alive today.
4. As an intern i was assigned to the rehab clinic of Mam Anne Suan Vega. I forgot the exact address of the clinic but it was near a public school. Mam Anne's family is quite famous in Oroquieta. That was in Aug 1998.
5. Twelve years ago, there was only 1 Jollibee "outlet" in Oroquieta. It was more of a kiosk or foodcart beside the road. They get their supplies from Jollibee Ozamis.
6. During that time, Oroquieta was the cleanest city in the country.
7. Every night at around 8pm we always go sa ila Plaza and eat halang-halang and sing the videoke. I swear that their halang-halang was the best. My co-interns from Velez, Cebu Doc, MU, Medina, can attest to that fact..
8. Same time around 12 years ago, i had a week long relationship there. She was studying in Cebu. I met her by chance when there was an event in front of their mansion-like house.. If i remember right the disco event was held at a school named Stella Mariz?? I haven't heard about her since..
9. I have 2nd degree relatives living in Oroquieta. If i'm not mistaken they are into fishing business. My best regards to the Duhaylungsod clan..
Well, just reminiscing those good old days... Haaay...
