Although data from exploration activities in the Tañon Strait still have to be analyzed, Energy Undersecretary Guillermo Balce said the department expects to find about one billion barrels of oil under the sea.

Out of this potential reserve, about 100 million barrels of oil can be recovered. This would be enough to answer the country’s needs for one year.

btw, what happened to the so called deuterium deposit in Surigao (Philippine Deep)? as far as i remember, this made news in late 80's or early 90's kay maimpas daw ang foreign debt sa Pinas once ma extract...
