    Default helping the kids

i got a friend who works from a foreign foundation who helps send childern to school, kaya lang nasudlan ug politika, very sad to hear i thought if we could start a new one and continue to help children go to school especially those mga poor kaayo, that would be a big help to our local community. does anybody here knows some philanthropists who's willing to support this cause?

what i know is that most can actually attend school as we have public schools. mas problema daw ang pagka-on, and of course ang extra money for school supplies. i know of one religious group nga mag community feeding, then ingon siya mga wala juy ka-on mga bata. sa hierarchy of needs mas una ang physical needs, so if gutom unsa may makat-unan sa bata sa eskelahan? luoy kaayu huna-hunaon ang bata nga gigutom. so ako im more inclined sa feeding program....

im not sure but we can learn from this religious group. they feed around 100 children on weekends and "by faith" ra kuno ila, meaning, faith in God ra gyud nga naay mo donate. i've been reading books on frugality (have a thread on this in Family Matters) and there's this one idea nga pwede ma-apply sa atong future feeding program: collecting salavageable supermarket produce. i asked one supermarket clerk once on how "rotten" produce are disposed and she said murag ilabay ra man kuno. this is one food source that i'd like to look into. kung atong huna-hunaon, daghan jud naay mga sobra, mangalata nalang, while on the other end, naay mga walay gikaon.

in our church naa mi feeding program every saturday. mga 500 kids i believe. they come for a hot meal and to hear the word of the Lord. meron din sila service ana adlawa. i totally support feeding the kids. ato mga pobre irresponsable. pobre na nga...gawa pa ng gawa ng bata. di na lang magpa-ligate or vasectomy. kalokah.

i also remember hearing that some of those kids go to the school sa amo church. scholars sila. they also get free lunch i believe. where does the funding come from? the members. ang church i used to attend in manila ganun din...meron streetkids feeding program.

i am seriously considering volunteering for our church feeding program. i am sure hindi sobra sobra ang mga mu-hukad ug mu-serve. as for educating them...i am praying...that i can afford to "adopt" one kid in the near future...fund his schooling and see it thru till high school. kung gusto nila mag-college...they can get a part-time job to fund their needs and hopefully i will still be there to help them out kahit papaano.

it might be too late to help their parents...but these kids right now are still moldable. trainable. feeding them is just one of the means to reach out to them and try to keep them off the streets and away from trouble when they grow up.

after all...the bible said train a child the way he should go and he will not depart from it
