A whirlwind hit an area in Argao town, 66.9 km south of Cebu City, Thursday dawn, destroying four structures, including two houses, and damaging several others.
Talaga Barangay (village) Captain Florentino Ortega said the whirlwind struck for about three minutes and the structures within 100 meters were either destroyed or damaged.
Barangay health worker Elizabeth Alonzo said she, her husband, daughter and three grandchildren were sleeping in her house located at the seaside in Barangay Talaga, Argao town, when she was awakened by a loud noise at 2 a.m. Thursday.
After a few minutes, the whirlwind struck their house but by then, her husband, daughter and three grandchildren had left the house, Alonzo said in an interview over station dyFX.
