freshmen overclocking need help and advice...

GOOD morning mga MASTERS..

ako ra ni g.tistingan kung unsa akong nasabtan
about sa pag overclock kay interesado kaau ko
makahibaw...i read most of the time dri sa forum
and in the other site about overclocking...

ang ako lang jd wala nasabtan is sa memory timing
ng.libog lang jd ko pag.au sa dha nga part mao nang
wala ko ng.manual set sa latency...


Mao ni akong gi buhat sa bios:

-set my DRAM auto
-set my FSB to 222 para makuha
nako ang DRAM freq nga 592MHZ kay ako man g.sunod ang
naa sa timing table...
-set my HT multiplier to 9 kay sa akong nabasahann basta
DDR3 kinahanglan daw dli malapas og 2000MHZ...
-disable nako ang Cool n Quiet
-auto tanan ako voltage ky sa ako bios dli man cya
mausab...

i only used stock HSF and value ram ra diay...

MY Q: okie raba akong pag overclock?wala bay kuyaw?
if kung naay sayop og kuyaw sa akong pag overclock unsa man n.u
ika advice?

first of all, if you really want to do optimum overclocking, Highly recommended to purchase a very good after market cooler for your processor..

believe me, HSF might not dissipate heat well.

if you need to also tinker on your RAM timing, you need a better RAM module.

leaving your processor on stock HSF and do overclock is kuyaw.... it may fail soon.

^its not kuyaw as long as the temps are at the standard range, na overclock nako sauna ako E5200 dual core from 2.5 to 3.5ghz stable using the stock cooler for months. Monitor lang gyud sa temps, pag unacceptable na, then invest on a good cooler. But anyway, bisan pa ok, as what bro amd said, prioritize jud ang aftermarket cooler above anything else if ready na tanan ang components. Sa imo pangutana, what I usually do is let the memory run at the lowest frequency possible ( worry about the latency later ). Say naa kay DDR2 800 ( runs at 400mhz ) downclock it to 333mhz or even 266mhz sa bios para taas imo headroom sa imo pag-adjust sa imo fsb. Keep the ram voltage and latency timings at auto sa. Para makuha nimo imo estimated range. Pagsulod nimo sa windows, run a program like cpu-z, determine the ram voltage and the timings. Tapos if tested stable imo overclock i-tweak nalang dayon imo timings. Pwede nimo buhaton nga guide ang standard timings for ddr2 ( cas 4-4-4-12, cas 5-5-5-15, cas 6-6-6-18 ). If ang gi-auto sa mobo pananglitan, kay 5-6-6-15, sulayi ug run sa cas 5, tapos pag unstable ang system, i-up ang ram voltage. Dapat kabalo ka sa max supported voltage sa imo ram, if masubraan, naay possibility nga masunog imo ram. Say ang gi-auto sa mobo kay 2.1v sulayi padagan 2 volts. Mix and match nalang daun. Ang rule of the thumb when it term to ram overclocking is, unsa imo i-prioritize, loose timings + high frequency or tight timings + low frequency. If you are able to have both < high freq. + tight timings > ( w/c can usually be achieved on performance rams ) then mas maayo.

dont play on voltage unless needed for stability reasons, also keep monitoring temps.

also before overclocking, pls make a reference benchmark aron if stable na imo overclock ma check nmo if worth it ba ang additional stress sa imo pc for the performance gain.

@sempron so sir my RAM is DDR3 1333(runs 667mhz) na downclock na diay ni nako kay akong freq. kay 592mhz man? kung ako pani paubsan sir nid diay nako pa up ang voltage 1.5 to 1.6 kung dli siya stable?kung mg.overclock sir nid jd na i.manual ang timings?

@werty sir suwayan nako og stress test sa prime95 naa man siya error sa blend test....stable ba ghapon na sir?

If imo paubsan ang speed, no voltage increase is necessary. Ang pasabot nako, if gi-ubsan nimo ang freq. tapos tighten nimo timings ( if sobra ra pag tighten, you may reach the point of instability mao na there is a need ( but depende ra na sa imo as imo palabi, high freq. or tight timings ) to up the voltage.

sir, ERRORS are ERRORS sir, d na sya stable. Overclocking is a long process, starting from the main components itself if maka kaya ba sya i run outside sa iya specs..

@sempron ah....okie sir...kasabot nko gamay sir...so dli paman na cya matawag nga na overclock na ang RAM sir noh if mg.usab na sa voltage?dha ra matawag nga na overclock na ang RAM if kung malapas na sa speed nga 667mhz ang DRAM freq. coz i used DDR3 1333mhz man...sakto ba ko sir?

wew! ga stress test ka lang tapos defaults pa tanan settings nya na error? naa jd blema pc nmo pre. check temperatures, check memory with memtest86+, check na @ defaults imo settings sa bios....
