About IDE Cables

How do I know what to use? I have a 40Gb Western Digital 5400 and a 80Gb Maxtor 7200(soon) so what type of IDE cables should I use? I plan to use my 40GB as the primary and 80GB as secondary and all connected with 1 IDE.

Type of IDE? i think wala nay na blin sa ATA66 cables all of them are already ATA 100/133

thier are two type na puwede mo gamiton Standard ata 100 or ata 133 IDE Cable the difference of the two is the ata 100 is much slower ang pag read / open file sa hardisk than the ata 133 but you can use either one of them.

the ATA 100 are also ata 133 cables

known as the 80wire 40pin cables.

the ones that have bigger wires are ATA33/66
the finer ones are ata 100/133

much better if you use ide cable for 1 hdd. say, (1 ide cable for your primary) then another (1 ide cable for your 2ndary hdd slaved with your cd-rom drive). it shares resources if 2 device naka connect sa one cable. specially that your cd-rom cant keepup with your hdd. btw, are you plannin to buy a sata 80gb maxtor? cause if thats the case. use your the sata drive as your primary hdd.

nya sa secondary nko ibutang ang cd rom ug 40GB(back up). nya puro ata 100/133 ako gamiton

that would be fine lng if you'll use 100/133 on both.

sa mga hdd kato 80 coductor ide cable imo gamiton kay magamit man ang full speed sa cable , sa cd rom ang 40 conductor lang kay di na magamit full speed niya kay sobra ka hinay ang cd drive.....
