hellow fellow istoryans...just a simple question w/c requires your expertise...compatible ba ang mga bag-o nga videocard nga pci-e 2.0 sa akong mobo nga pci-e x16 ang slot?..if yes..mo-downgrade ba?

PCIE 2.0 is backwards-compatible with PCIE 1.1, it uses the same slot so wala'y problema diha although dako ug bandwidth ang PCIE 2.0 but you need to tell us unsa imong graphics card para mahibaw-an kung mo bottleneck ba ang PCIE 1.1 sa imong board.
Unsa imo motherboard? Naa'y rare cases of some nvidia cards a few years ago ( pci-e 2.0 cards particularly the 8800 series ) that doesn't work on some via/old nvidia/sis/intel based motherboards with pci-e 1.0 on it. Though most unlikely na ni karon.
ok..i'm going to buy an Ati hd 3650 or hd 38xx gpu to replace my sapphire x1550..and my current set-up is gigabyte m61sme-s2 Nforce 405 chipset w/ Athlon64 x2 4200+,2 x 512mb ddr2 elixer mems on dual,500w intex psu.(need upgrade too)..This rig is 2 1/2 years old and no problems ever since...thanks for responding..
Mamili imo mobo og PCIe card, bai
"Revolutionary PCI Express interface provides scalable bandwidth for multi-purpose usage. PCI-E x16 interface (The GA-M61SME-S2 supports up to PCI Express x8 mode, please refer to the VGA cards support list) doubles the bandwidth of graphics interface of previous generation thus delivering the utmost gaming experience. PCI-E x1interface provides twice the bandwidth of PCI interface up to 250MB/s for new generation I/O peripheral devices"
Mao ra ni cgurado nga pwede

@TS: Go what poldo says...
Its backward compatible ang PCIEX 1.0 to PCIEX 2.0 so no worries! some manufacturer's indicate their tested vcards for their motherboards to ensure system compatibility but it doesnt mean its no guarantee. Meaning you can use pciex vcard on pciex mobo w/ no problem.
The mobo's chipset is first gen PCIe 1.0, yugi. A number of PCIe 2.0 video cards will definitely NOT work on such mobo. The TS should worry. Better that he check first by actually testing the card first for compatibility before buying.
Murag wala man siguro issue ang ati bro,...nvidia ra ako nahibal-an,

pero yes, mas maau jud if matestingan niya ang card daan, if mahimo dal-on niya iya rig sa shop. Also the pci-e x16 slot running only at 8x could hurt the speed

@anonemus: Yup I know pero you didnt get my point about backward compatibilities. Some GPU's like NVIDIA before having problems w/ some mobo's where I never heard problems w/ ati cards. Sakto c Sempron_guy and thats what exactly I want you to understand. As I remember compatibility issues are the most common problems w/ nvidia cards w/ ati chipset mobos coz they are rival since then. Well...its the @TS will decide.
In your post you said the TS should not worry and there will be no problem
