I wish it were that simple. Euopean, US and first world country type homes are built differently compared to majority of those in the Philippines. most are air tight because of centralized airconditioning and heating designs while in our country, "lahos lahos ang hangin" is the norm (lots of windows opened). besides, 36 degree C is rare in our country even during summer time (ave temp is 32-34 during summer). imagine older, retired people (60-80 years old) living alone just opting to use electric fans (to save energy) in an airtight home with 36-39 degree C heat outside for months. that's like living inside an oven with an electric fan as your only source of air circulation and it remains that way until 9-10 in the evening because of humidity. because of those given scenarios (home design, older, retired, and living alone) ending up dead during summer with the raging "heat wave" is a big difference in itself compared to the Phillipines' and thus making that comparison ill-advised.

ONLY 2 people? that's nothing compared to US who had 12 people died from the heat wave on the early part of this week..

i agree with omad, we're like inside friggin ovens here (in US).. it's REALLY not comparable to the heat in the Philippines.. the humidity in the US to that of the philippines is way too different.. kung mag electric fan ka sa US init nga hangin ang mu gawas.. that's why most people go for air condition units eventhough the demand for energy is high.. i don't blame them if they wish it's winter again..hehehe

sorry to disappoint you. Texas, Arizona, Nevada and Death Valley in California to name a few are places in the US that are extremely HOT during summer time. temperatures ranging from 36-39 C normal would reach to more than 44 C on really hot and humid days while the hottest temps in the Phils would only average between 32-34 C. a little research on these will answer your question.

    Record HI's and LOW's:

i was reading CNN when i post this, coz CNN reported about the Heat Wave and they said it was 36 degrees celcius..

diba tinuod man sad na sensitive sila sa heat coz they are not use to it.. even naa sila sa pilipinas mu complain man gani sila na init.. (wala ko nag generalize, im refering sa wala na anad sa init)

wala man sad ko nag compare, kay mura lahi ra jud ang US and Philippines in terms of weather..

bro, let's clear the misconception here about the weather in the US and get to the facts. jugs_06, (who lives in NY area) would be the first one to disagree with you on how HOT it gets during the summer time. New York and most of the cities on the Eastside are "milder" compared to Texas (where I'm at), Nevada (Springfield_XD_40's at) and Arizona. trust me, I've spent most of my life in Cebu, Leyte and Manila, let me tell you.. it's HOTTER here during summer time not only during daytime but also late in the evenings around 9-10 PM. imagine yourself going out of the house around 10 PM and feel the hot humid air touching your face like it was still 1 PM coming out of SM. if that's how hot it is in the evening here, imagine how hot it is during daytime and early afternoon between 1-5 PM. trust me, it's just unbearable.

maybe he is refering sa mga urban places or cities.. wala paman cguro nag complain about heat sa Death Valley kay for sure na anad na mga taw na nad stay didto..nobody lives in Death Valley (national park in the desert) except for researchers, Park Rangers, camp workers and the occasional tourists. actually, those numbers I posted here would stand on their own. just compare those figures (temps) 'coz it really doesn't need explanation.

ako agree man ko nimu omad, wala man ko ni sulti na sayup ka coz naa gud ka diha so you know more about sa weather diha, about sa ako post i just based it sa CNN.com, sila ni sulti na 36 degrees kuno.. i wont post man sad kung wala basis ako gi post..

    about Death Valley:
Death Valley is home to the Timbisha tribe, who have inhabited the valley for at least the past 1000 years. Some families still live in the valley at Furnace Creek. The name of the valley, tümpisa, means 'rock paint' and refers to the valley as a source of red ochre paint. Another village in the valley was located in Grapevine Canyon near the present site of Scotty's Castle. It was called maahunu in the Timbisha language, the meaning of which is uncertain although hunu means 'canyon'.
