its no question in what you should get, if 6600 Vanilla ni, it still has more advantage than the 9600Pro, (SM 3.0, 8 Pipelines for example)

9600 or the 6600 (vanilla)? Definitely the 6600; faster and more features (SM 3.0). But yes, spending a thousand bucks more or so on a GT model won't be a bad idea as well, especially if you'll be playing graphics card intensive games (HL2, doom3, NFS:MW, etc.).

9600 pro is more like a 9550 Extreme Edition. But the 9550 EE is faster.

I saw one available at archtech. the newer version Radeon 9550 Extreme Platinum edition.
