5.8Ghz Cordless Phones -range problem

I recently just helped a friend setup a 5.8ghz cordless phone system. For some reason, the distance is very short (base to handset)

isnt 5.8ghz suppose to be made for longe range purposes?

Is 5.8ghz cordless phones band here in the Philippines?

How are the obstructions? Higher frequencies cannot go around obstructions efficiently.

the higher the frequenct the lower the range but the better the voice quality

900mhz ideal for philippines because of concrete walls but voice quality is adequate

2.4ghz not nearly as ideal as 900mhz but useful enough less range compared to 900mhz voice is much clearer (also it interefers with Wifi which is at 2.4ghz)

5.8ghz no good for concrete walls....

anyway as the frequency goes up its penetrating power goes down

but the benefits of a high frequency radio is the that you can pack more data..... that is why wifi works at 2.4 ghz and 5ghz since more channels for data will be available compared to 900mhz......

great info! thanks, it said 5.4ghz Giga-Range on the box thats why my friend though it would be longer range oh-well.. Ill relay this to him. Thanks a bunch man!
