Ageia recently released a new dedicated physics processor for next-gen PC gaming... the card--(PCI card which connects to your mobo via a PCI slot ver. 2.0 and later)--that has this processor solely handles all the physics and effects calculations/processes in the game(explosions, clothing physics, water physics, etc.)....this leaves all graphics, texturing, and image quality calculations/processes to the video card...

there are few games already that are utilizing the capabilities of this hardware (e.g. Bet on Soldier, Alpha Prime, Monster Madness, and CellFactor)....and i'm sure there are games out there currently under development that are using this technology...

Having this card now is practically a waste of money and is more like a novelty item,it doesnt really add more eyecandy.il give this tech 2~3 years to mature

Call factors effect can be done w/o a Physx card, a dual core processor is more than enough for this task. coz what they are showing as is just graphical physics not real ingame ones which the processor still does. this technology is really overhyped and current reviews have already proven that this card is a novelty item

@Earlz: well i think i agree.. especially with the multi-core processors on the horizon...still is amazing to look though (Alpha Prime and CellFactor)...well, lets see wat the future holds for this technology...

microsoft will release direct x 10, which supports physics processing. no need to purchase extra hardware..
