Default Why Do Most Pastors Like Indie Rock?

i dunno but i noticed most pastors today from Jared Wilson to Joshua Harris, Steve McCoy to Brent Thomas, Frances Chan to Mark Driscoll, most of their playlist or music recommendation are indie rock from Fleet Foxes to The Low Anthem to Grizzly Bear to Bon Iver...

i know these music are intelligent music but i never met a pastor, both in persn and online, who recommends Paramore or P.O.D. It's either Hank Williams or Miles Davis or Jonathan Forman or Death Cab For Cutie... hmmm...

But one thing's for sure, pastors do have good taste when it comes to music...

and heck even John Piper invited a rapper at his church,.... "-)

maybe because most indie rock are honest music. i mean most of their lyrics are personal and most indie rock are intelligent music pod and most pastors are intelligent hehehe.

and the bands or writers may not know it but most indie rock i heard from Cold War Kids to Pedro The Lion to The Low Anthem to Bright Eyes to Iron and Wine tackles faith in an engaging way.

Cold War Kids does it from the christian perspective while Sam Beam (Iron and Wine) and Bright Eyes do it from the perspective of somebody who loses faith in GOd.

These two aspects are very important in understanding people and it's a great conversation stimulant to engage Christ in a language they understand...

I don't think Intellegence has something to do sa type nga music imo ganahan paminawon. It's very subjective, mura ra sad na Food depende ra sa imo gusto kaonon wala'y labot Intellegence, kundili kung unsay gusto o hilig nimo. Maybe the way you interpret and analyze music dinha na magamit ang Intellegence. ma pa rock, reggae, rnb, country, blues, etc. etc.

belive it or not one of the guy who influenced me to listen to Metal is a Priest. my cousin, Fr. Loy Pasquil introduced me to Deicide and Cannibal Corpse to Obituary..pero i was hookd more on Sepultura. and i also know a nun who listens to 2 Live Crew and NWA(seriously, no joke..)... My Priest cousin also loves indie music. his a big Daniel Johnston fan. he introduced me to Pexies and, Belle and Sebatian.but somehow he cant stand Bright Eyes or Arcade Fire....

all im saying is, people who serve or work for the church or on any religious matter are just like every other people who listens to diiferent music.its just somehow we find to steroetype them to certain music, religious music to be exact. hehe
