    Default question bout sleep hours..


    hi sirs/ma'ams

    is sleeping late and waking up late just equivalent (or as healthy as) to sleeping early and waking up early? considering both having equal sleep hours..

    bcoz older people (majority of them if not all) wud say lahi ra daw ang duha.. they always say sleeping early waking up early mas healthy.. scientific ba ilang judgment?

    not really .. naay mga body processes na muhitabo at specific hours of sleep na ma maximize nimo when you are actually ... sleeping. and yes, this happens after 10 before 6.

    i think sa habit ni mo matter.
    also if inconsistent ang start time/end time of your sleep, it will disrupt your biological clock and thus will cause health problems.

    just my two cents.

    mashealthy jud bitaw sleeping early then waking up early kaysa sa sleeping late then waking up late bisan pag pareho ka nga matug ug 8 hours... gi-explianan mn ko ani sa akong mama kalimot lang ko...tana unya kog balik nig mata niya.... hehehehehe!!

    mas healthy jud ug matulog ka sayo nya atleast 8 hrs. a day..

    depende man tingali nis imong "internal body clock" and if na anad kag sleep late/wake up late or sleep early/wake up early. as long as inig mata nimo you feel refreshed and energized and you dont feel sleepy or drowsy during daytime then i think its ok. but i think a lot of people don't know about a hormone called melatonin which is a hormone that synchronizes our "circadian rhythm" (wake/sleep pattern) and it is also a very powerful anti-oxidant.

    our body's melatonin production is stimulated by darkness during night time when we are sleeping. so kung matulog kag buntag or kanang hayag na, your body wont be producing as much melatonin compared sa kung ma tulog kag gabii coz our body's ability to produce melatonin is receptive to darkness. so even if you had an equal amount of sleeping hours, the quality of our sleep during night time is so much better compared to the daytime sleep. so in that sense, regardless of how many hours you sleep during daytime, it is still healthier to sleep during night time. but whatever your sleeping habit is, its a personal choice as long as you are aware of the health implications of not being able to sleep during the night.

    the issue on how many hours of sleep we should have, again depende ra sad ni. some people need more, some people need less. i have a friend who, even if she sleeps 8 hrs, still feels sleepy and drowsy at some point during the day. she needs like 10 hrs of sleep to avoid feeling "lousy" during the day. but for me 6 hrs of undisrupted sleep is already good enough for me but i always aim for 7-8 hrs of sleep every night.
