Default Hard drive benchmarks

I hope this will serve as a guide on what kind of HDs to buy and everyone will participate, I know how every1 wants raptors, but I read lots of reviews about those HDs being noisy. ALso, they arent much difference in performace with benchie on 2 hitachi sata2's Cheaper, more silent

Here are my benchs.
Format
HD type text
Short Bench JPG
Long Bench JPG

Seagate 80sata 7200rpm x2 on Nvidia raid 0.
I remember when I first installed these drives and benchmarked them it reached 250mb/s. Since I use this as my system drive, i have so much installed already, these are my results, will try to defrag and test again after:

Western Digital 180 PATA 7200 rpms 8mb cache

Use this to bench (Freeware)
HD TACH

Post your results !

The Hitachi sata are truly bang for bucks...
My Hitachi 2X80gigs in raid0 config
(system is only a P4 2.2ghz, 256mb ram)
shortrun..

longrun..

Though the Seagate has a slim/neglegible margin edge in random access time, the hitachis' enjoy a 10 mbs/sec edge in average read speed. 16gigz is already occupied and honestly, I haven't deffraged it since installing it 5 mos. ago.

also note how much cpu utilisation it takes when benchmarked, compared w/ the other contenders.

I wouldn't have gotten the raptors(w/c does 8.8/94.5) if i have bought these babies first.
I also think its the cheapest sata drives available.
...raptor drives aren't really that noisy.
