Thread: On Beauty

    Default On Beauty

    Let's talk about Beauty.

For me, there is a spiritual side to beauty. Whenever I encounter a beautiful thing, for example, or an utterly beautiful person, I find myself lifted to cloud nine. Then, eventually, I would experience despair, because something inside me would long to grasp that beauty, would long to preserve it somehow, or better yet possess it! Yet, at the back of my mind I also know that it's wrong to possess beauty, that it in fact is never meant to be possessed.

    On Beauty

    Beauty
    can either
    drive you
    mad
    or liberate you

    It will depend
    on how you will
    respond
    every time you
    see something
    or someone
    beautiful:

    If you will seek
    to possess it,
    you will become
    utterly miserable
    and even mad,
    but if you will see
    it simply as a
    gift from Above,
    a reflection of God's
    eternal beauty;
    if you will exclaim in
    your heart,
    "Praise God!"
    each time you
    encounter
    something
    or someone beautiful,
    or if you simply try
    to appreciate it
    and then finally
    let go of it,
    in the same way that
    you let go of a
    beautiful flower
    when it begins to
    wither in your hands,
    or a beautiful song
    when it begins to sound
    predictable and stale
    to you ears,
    or a sparkling insight
    when it ceases to
    inspire you --
    you will be freed,
and you will have a lighter
    heart!
I'm reminded of Albert Camus' quote: "Beauty is unbearable, drives us to despair, offering us for a moment a glimpse of an eternity which we should like to stretch out over the whole of time."

    ^ They're everywhere!

I can compare beauty to an ocean. It's infinitely deep and awe-inspiring, and I feel like giving everything up for a chance to dive in to the depths of its essence and mystery. But I wouldn't.

ah! beauty, makes me cry, makes me happy and made me brave...
even the spirit is worth a thousand sighs of beauty! and mostly is the mind
the most beautiful thing i find in me is my mind, of which was not, i would desire to cease existing...

    and i quote myself...

beauty is poison, it breaks my heart
beauty is wild, it pounded my mind
beauty is cursed, an awe to behold!
    alas!
    beauty is what i want
    but never will
    beauty is what i long
    and longing still
    weee nice thread

    please this is not her...

Beauty can haunt us, but it can also elevate us.

Ako ganahan nako buhaton kay for every beautiful thing nga ako'ng makit-an, every beautiful feeling nga ako'ng ma-feel, every beautiful person nga ako'ng ma-encounter, himuan nako og poem. To celebrate beauty and declare it to the whole world...

Beauty, a indicative of a wholeness beyond these surmise making them extraneous for that depth of appreciation. The greater good, from which everything continual arises.

Beauty can be affair in vibes to seeing the villainy of the stars or a tiny crystal. All these are wonder arising from a greater universal lawful oneness that we can psychologically experience as beauty.

Elements of beauty are rightly attributed to reality, as in the instance of a painting and as in the instance of the stars, the wonders of the processes that brought them to their being.

Eliminate all the mental frills, reality is beautiful.
