I am planning to buy a LCD TV then found out that the LCD monitor is cheaper than the LCD tv.

of course... because of the TV features that the LCD monitor doesnt have.. mao jud na ang nka pa mahal bro.

Could you please expand more in the bolded lines? Aside from the fact that a LCD TV can do TV.

ang additional technology to fit the tv function in your lcd monitor... which means dili na ka kinahanglan ug cpu nga tauran ug tv tuner ug video/cable input to enjoy local movies aired by local stations. and kung mag cable ka ... direcho na sa monitor. and kung mag dvd ka ... derecho na sa lcd tv. wala nay hassle para mag on pa sa pc. i guess its the little specialized add on that makes it more expensive. just my two cents worth ...
kung resolution ang hisgutan ... kung local tv ... imo lcd tv nga hi def way ayo gihapon - pareho ra sa monitor sa cpu nga lcd nga gi taud ug tv tuner. kung blue ray ... payter kaayo imong LCD TV nga hi def! blue ray + lcd tv = good to go! (you dont need to be tech savvy here ... hehehe!)

Most LCD monitor have a better resolution than LCD TV's.
For example, my 26" LCD Monitor is fullHD, 1920x1200, but you wont find a LCD TV with that resolution in 26". Don't know why that is...

most LCD monitors doesnt have speakers, LCD monitors cant be just a stand alone device nga diretso ra ka mka watch ug TV... in order for the LCD monitor nga mka watch ka ug movies from TV is u need either an external TV tuner or u connect it to ur CPU nga naa TV tuner. just like what exactly elpropesor said. do u see the difference? Back on topic:
TV tuning is cheap, I can even make one out of scrap.
Remote Control system is really cheap too, I can make one out of rubbish.
Speaker, halos walay diperensya in quality even if you go on bravia tvs. People will buy a set of speakers man gyud instead of using the stock speakers naa sa TV.
if LCD TVs are expensive, then why do these 3 things I have said seems to be expensive than the LCD screen itself?

what is there to discuss bro? the TS is asking why its expensive.. given some of the basic details only to the TS unsa ang nka lahi why mahal ky mao man pod ang obvious nga difference between the two.
an infact ur right nga u could get those TV tuners to have the LCD monitor function as TV also... i for one wont buy LCD TVs ky i could buy those other gadgets to have the LCD function as TV and of course its way cheaper pa just like what u said.
