Is P4 2.8ghz, P4i45GV motherboard compatible with PC400 memory?
Actually it has PC2700/ddr333 512 memory as what Asrock CPU support said. Then I change it to PC400 512mb and it turns out it has more power that PC2700.

Does this PC400 compatible with P4i45GV motherboard?
Does P4i45GV motherboard will suffer long term effect after?

Check with CPU-Z if your memory is really running as DDR-400. If the minimum supported memory is DDR-333, then it may be possible that the DDR-400 sticks you're using is underclocked by the board.

the ASROCK P4i45GV is intel 845GV mobo ( i have had this mobo before. )

Presscott - 533 MHz FSB CPU compatible.HT capable. overclockable.

when running ddr400. the ram will ran at 333MHz with tighter CAS setting.

DDR memory was designed to be backward compatible so generally speaking, you can safely add faster memory to your computer. For example, you can install a PC3200 DDR module in a computer that calls for PC2700 DDR. However, keep in mind that faster memory will not necessarily make your system faster. You can't speed up your computer by adding faster memory if other components in your computer (your processor or other memory modules) operate at a slower speed.

The right memory for your computer is the kind of memory it was designed to take. Check your system manual or look up your system in the Crucial Memory Advisor to find the memory guaranteed to be 100 percent compatible or your money back.

if possible have a branded - double sided ddr400 for maximum compatibility..

so to summarized this;
PC400 RAM is compatible with asrock P4i45GV motherboard.
To maximize it has to be exactly same size memory. double sided, by the way which is old, single sided or double sided memory.
