kinsay tig tan-awan ninyo ug TUF 8? naay pinoy nga cast member who goes by the name of phillipe nover. lightweight sya and murag sya ang next big pinoy sa UFC, if he wins it all sa TUF 8. basin sya na ang bag-o nga pinoy crowd drawer sa UFC kay murag nalaos na man to si brandon vera... he is currently being referred to as "the filipino assasin". one great thing about phillipe is he recognizes his filipino roots and is proud of it.

he made his mark sa 1st episode sa TUF because he fainted during the introductions because of the heat in vegas. during the elimination fight, he was pitted against the highly regarded joe duarte, who was one of the favorites coming into the show. many people thought, including nogueira, that duarte was going to kick nover's butt. but the opposite happened and he was the one who got into the house. bali gud ang ilong ni duarte pag ground & pound niya. he won via submission due to a rear naked choke in the 2nd round. he even turned out to be nogueira's first pick among the lightweights (2nd pick overall). hope he wins TUF 8!

The undefeated professional mixed martial art fighter Phillipe Nover was born and raised in Brooklyn. Training at Universal Defense Systems with Ralph Mitchell, Nover is as diverse as the city he lives in, as he is of Polish and Filipino descent. The 24-year-old attended Kingsborough Community College and currently works at Coney Island Hospital as a registered nurse in the ER. Nover acknowledges his professional life is quite the dichotomy – healing by day but fighting by night. He began training in martial arts at age nine and attended Leon Goldstein High School in Brooklyn. Nover currently holds a rank of brown belt under his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Teacher Alexandre "Soca" Freitas and fights out of Team Insight.

OT: yeah 3 losses in the last 4 matches with one sub-par win against reese andy. IMO, vera is on the verge of being cut by the UFC. i think the only reason he isn't is because he'll be playing a major part in drawing the Filipino crowd when the UFC expands in the Philippines.

if nover makes it all the way, he may soon well replace vera as the Filipino MMA icon, making vera dispensable. we have not seen the explosive brandon vera that people loved to see. in contrast to what we're seeing from nover, he's an exciting young fighter with many upsides.

Didn't really notice yung Filipino roots niya until nung ep na fineature cya. (They usually feature the fighter on the ep na lalaban cla). Nabigla na lang ako na he requested balut for the entire household and dared them to eat a filipino delicacy.

Galing naman nung mga staff sa bahay ng UFC to get balut in Las Vegas.

Sa skills naman niya, impressive ang jiu-jitsu niya for a brown belt. He jokingly calls himself "the most dangerous registered nurse in the UFC". Will be rooting for him in the finals.
