Talking Ex-US Marine beats up 2 robbers

Ex-US Marine beats up 2 robbers

    Friday, August 15, 2008

Two motor-riding men who robbed four call center agents in Nasipit, Talamban, Cebu City past midnight yesterday ended up being beaten up by one of their would-be victims who turned out to be a former member of the US Marines.

The unidentified suspects were however able to ran away with the bag of one of the call center agents by boarding a motorcycle.

The four employees of People Support, who reported the incident to Mabolo Police Station, narrated that while we were waiting for jeepney, two motorcycle riding men approached them and announced the hold up by poking a gun at them.

But William Teves, a Filipino-American and a former US Marines who is now connected with People’s Support based in Asiatown IT Park in barangay Apas, was able to disarm one of the robbers and boxed them both while they try to rob him.

Teves was able to confiscate the derringer .22 Magnum revolver, which he turned over to the police. The gun was later found out to be empty.

“Nakatilaw gyud ang mga tulisan wa sila magtuo nga kanhi sakop diay sa US Marines ang usa sa mga kauban. Gipanglambuyog ra ang mga tulisan kay sakto kaayo sa praktis ang kadto’ng ex-US marine,” said P/Insp. Pedro Quevedo, shift officer of Mabolo police station.

The two unidentified robbers were, however, able to get the bag of Catherine Umbac, Teves’ co-worker, and sped away on board a motorcycle.

“Kinse pesos ra man ang sud ato akong shoulder bag, Sir kay wala pa ma’y suweldo pero ang importante ato ang mga ID ug ubang mga documents,” Umbac told police investigators of Mabolo Police station.

The victims told police authorities the suspected robbers were about 18 to 19 years old Members of Mabolo police however later turned over the victims to Talamban Police Station as the place where the incident happened falls under the area of jurisdiction of Talamban

    Nakatilaw gyud sila sir!!!

I wonder what technique the Ex-U.S. Marine used, L.I.N.E., perhaps?

Around 1980, the Marine Corps introduced the "L.I.N.E." fighting system. Line (according to Wikipedia) means "Linear Infighting Neurological Override Engagement." However, everywhere else on the internet, it is referred to as "Linear Involuntary Neurological Override Engagement." Either way, the meaning is the same. LINE fighting is a fighting system that is down, dirty, brutal and deadly.

LINE fighting is a system that works off the basis of "most painful damage possible with the least amount of movement." This means that a Marine with full combat gear (Flak Jacket, Kevlar helmet, boots, rifle, and etc.) can subdue an enemy. Now when subdue is used, it is a broad term. It can mean disarming an enemy or killing that enemy with your bare hands. While it is highly effective, it was only taught once or twice to Marines, but was the basis for the new Marine Corps hand-to-hand combative system, known as the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program or MCMAP.

L.I.N.E. was designed for results that ranged from severe body pain and disfigurement to death.
I hope the ex-marine used this technique on those guys, para mo tagam gyud.

For those saying that "maayo unta nga gitiwasan to niya para matagam", that's totally uncalled for and that goes beyond the context of self defense. Disarming the suspects and creating space safe enough for him and for others is already enough. Now, let the police do their job in apprehending those responsible.
