Default exchange server 2003 - new installation

    dear fellow storyans,

    - planning to setup exchange server 2003 standard edition
    - i don't have experience on installing this into live environment
    - i did once in a test environment but within my network only
    - i can able to manage the whole exchange setup installation but I just have some doubts that needs clarifications and advices from u

in our organization we have existing forest eg "www.company.com" and mail server was hosted from our head office. now i want to build my own exchange server internally for some reasons such as backup and etc. and since we already have this email add like "myname@company.com" i am in the impression to use the same rather than creating a new one. also, this is to avoid changing the current email accounts we're using even though we are going to host it internally.

    My questions are:

1.) is it possible to make more than 1 email server using 1 forest or internet domain? (www.company.com) if so, do i need to ask our head office who has an access to point our mx records if im not wrong here.

2.) or do i need to register a new internet domain just for this purpose? (e.g. www.company2.com)

3.) is it possible to point to other internet domain but still using the www.company.com?

    thank u in advance.

(www.company.com) [yes, exchange 2003 will not encompass multiple forest ... btw, comany.com is your domain name. www is a hostname. ] if so, do i need to ask our head office who has an access to point our mx records if im not wrong here.
[definitely....not only for pointing the mx record but with your plans. you wont be able to install it without the email admin's go signal ]
2.) or do i need to register a new internet domain just for this purpose? (e.g. www.company2.com) [Depends on what you want to achieve...but murag dili ]

3.) is it possible to point to other internet domain but still using the www.company.com? [dont get this ]

    thank u in advance.

    bro, ask lang ko to better understand your requirements;

    1. What is it that you want to achieve with your plans? backup? wa kaau ko ka gets ani.
    2. How are you connected to the head office? location?
    3. What's the issue with the current setup?

di ko expert ha, tabang lang ko gamay.

we have a customer who has exchange 5.5 and exchange 2003

daghan kaau users sa exchange 5.5 compare sa 2003. mga 200 users sa 5.5, sa exchange kay 20 ra ka users

pero this servers are located this same site, not a separate site. imoha separate nga site?

i wonder why they still didnt migrate their users in 5.5 to 2003 hehhe

pwede ra boss. di man kaha issue ang global address list?

option1. same domain name, i delete sa singapore inyong mailbox nya i route ang emails padung nimo.

option2. different domain name ( meaning mo register ka imo own ), direct sa imo ang emails via mx record.

yup naka active directory...pero separate ang exchange server nko og AD wla nko gi mixed. local forest lng ako gamit. basically ako main objective is to have a central backup of all email accounts and easy management kung naa sa ako ang mail server. cguro I would say na ang one thing i like in exchange is the groupware function such as sharing calendars and others plus ang OWA...much simple compared daw sa uban...though haven't try yet the others. apart ana kanang concept na e link ang mail server sa tanang branches/property which I believe exchange is the ideal mail software...correct me if im wrong.
