    pretty much this:

    The Bottom Line

We see no reason to purchase a GeForce GTX 470. It provides no gameplay advantages compared to the competition, and will actually end up costing you more power and dollars for the exact same performance you can get with the Radeon HD 5850. Factor in the power consumption, and it doesn’t seem worth it. If you have an HD 5850, stick with it, the GTX 470 is not an upgrade. If you are contemplating a great performing graphics card, for a decent price, the HD 5850 is still the best choice.

The GeForce GTX 480 is more relevant in the market but it hasn’t exactly come out of the gate wowing us with performance either. There are some games where it is faster than the Radeon HD 5870, and there are some games where it is even with the Radeon HD 5870. Factor in the cost and power, and include the ability to run Eyefinity on a single GPU, the Radeon HD 5870, to us, seems like the better value for the gamer right now.

GeForce GTX 480 SLI clearly provides a better gameplay experience than the dual-GPU Radeon HD 5970. In the dual-GPU competition, we felt GeForce GTX 480 SLI provided the best experience, but it will certainly cost you. It will cost you a lot of money, and it will cost you by requiring a high powered hardcore enthusiast system to support it, again costing you more money. If you are a gamer, and you want the best performance you can get right now, GeForce GTX 480 SLI is where it is at. Just beware of all the consequences of running such a configuration. We are frothing at the bit to get into some NV Surround gaming with a GTX 480 SLI setup!

Overall, GF100 hasn’t exactly delivered. I think we were all hoping it would provide a substantial gameplay improvement over the Radeon HD 5870 and Radeon HD 5850. Competition is good, and we would like to see it. Unfortunately, our experiences weren’t as positive as we had wanted. When you break it all down to cost, power and performance, the GTX 480 and GTX 470 don’t measure up. The only saving grace is the awesomeness of GTX 480 SLI, but it comes at some high costs.

That all said, the GF100 is not a 5800 or 2900 redo, but it sure makes you think about it.

did you know that 5970 is a dual GPU? and GTX 480 is a single GPU? your pretty much wrong.. yes of course 5970 is leading the top charts but if nvidia release the gtx 495 i could say good bye to 5970... im still nvidia guy.. sorry pero mas daghan og gimmick ang mga brand sa nvidia.

they said bad things about gtx 400 delay because some users are already bought the red card (5000 series). sad to say.. dili tanan tao preha og religion...

the CUDA is a pretty much more advantage than the red card.. not only a gamers card but also for advance users...

hmmm.. How do I say this.. very disappointing indeed for me cuz I expected a lot from Fermi considering it's dramatic entrance of 6months late and it only has that much small amount of an improvement over the 5870?! and what's with the heat when it's on load?! Now that really TURN the hell OFF of me. Crap! you can make a sunny side up eggs on that number. I guess I'll be sticking with my oldie 2x 4890 for a while till they come up with something that's worth it for that price range.

my gosh nvidia.... they should have tried something like a dual core GPU with a hyperthreading or something to lure us

instead they are trying to fight ATi in the same ground and Its Epic fail EPIC epic Epic ..... wheres the MBA marketing talents of Nvidia executives? ??!?!

ATi has a good strategy by aligning Marketing and R&D in somehow a one whole department
A perfect Blend of Technology and Guided Opportunism

So ? What if 5970 is a Dual GPU? Nvidia had an option to make a Dual Fermi GPU but they didn't, because they are having trouble with the Single GPU's already.

A GTX 480 consumes MUCH MORE POWER THEN a 5970.
    A GTX 480 runs HOTTER then a 5970.

and 5970 is already 2 video cards, yet its better at temperature and consumption wise compared to the new FERMI GTX 480 which is a new generation, and 5970 is a technology which is 6-7 months older then FERMI's technology.

How can a new techology fail so much on simple consumption and temperature? Didn't they say they are leading techology in that area too?

Lots of people like me, who knows there hardware and do RND alot, will keep a 5970 over a GTX 480.

Do i have to say why ? Simple 5970 Consumes less, Runs way Cooler compared t a GTX 480, EVEN THOU 5970 IS DUAL GPU. And performance wise 5970 is still leading. So no point.

No matter what your going to say nor try to make an excuse, currenty ATI is still ruling, because of 5970.
Your dreaming of a Future GTX480X2 or GTX495 which doesn't exist and isn't even out yet.

You say "but if nvidia release the gtx 495 i could say good bye to 5970... "
I say "but if ati released the 6970 i could say good bye to gtx 495..."

    get my point ?!
    things like this are stupid.

Because most people who stick to 1 brand will always say bad things about the other brand! When 5970 and 5870 got released, NVIDIA users mostly said "lol just wait when fermi comes out it will own your ATI 58xx Series" and look what happened ? the people who bought there 5xxx Series video cards early got to enjoy, and have fun. COMPARED to the people waiting for fermi for 6-7 months til now, who suffered and waited for the card to be released by 6-7 months LATE.

No one ever said we have to have the same religion, or need to stick to 1 religion.

I use both brands NVIDIA and ATI Video Cards.

I even have more NVIDIA cards then my ATI Cards totalled.

If your a person that only sticks to 1 brand, even thou the other brand is showing proof that its better. Then i'm sorry, its your loss.

    Learn to have both brands!

From judging the Fermi Review's myself.

If i have a 5970 right now, 5870 and 5850 THERE IS no point in upgrading.

    5970 is faster by 30-40% over a GTX 480
5870 is slower by 5-15% over the GTX 480
5850 is on a draw with the GTX 470

Are people going to buy a $600 video card for a 5-15% UPGRADE? lol

here we go again, /facepalm. HOW IS CUDA a huge advantage over the entire ATI Cards ?

Do you know ATI Cards is also used in Servers? Rendering? etc. like Nvidia cards?

    Please... lol

And also dont ever say PHYSX, good luck playing batman 24/7.

I think the only FERMI i would buy is the future fermi's thats coming out, that are less hot, less consumption, more powerful.

Maybe if i can get rid of my main's rigs gpu's i could go for EVGA GTX 480 SC or FTW which are overclocked, and should achieve atleast 20% improvement over a 5870.
