Default The Nvidia Geforce Mid-Range 8 series Thread

Mga bro ako ni ge revise ang purpose ani para ma obserbahan sa uban ang ato exchanging of information....now we all know high end video card like 8800 series and up are very expensive ug dili tanan maka afford, so ako ni gi tuyu na mid-range kai affordable man and yet we can have the next-generation videocards with all the glamour of 8 series...infact like 7300gt sonic & 7600gt got so many awards from the past, now dri napod ta sa mga 8 series....

    [i]mod's note[/b]

Edited the title of the topic since this is not "officially" an Nvidia thread.

Naka comment na ko on this in another thread... ill just share my views here...

8800 series cards are very expensive - I think they're 15k pesos here... mahal gyud siya.

8500 series and 8600 series remind me of the Geforce FX 5200 type cards....

remember when nigawas to touting that it was an "FX" card and was DX9 capable?

A lot of people bought this card because of these features pero a few months later when DX9 games were popular na... the card could only run these new games at low settings... or medium at best pero low res ra.

I understand why people settle for the 8600 because of the price pero what they would really want is the performance level of an 8800 series card especially for upcoming DX10 games like Crysis, Halo 3.

My question is....will you be able to use your videocard to play DX10 games now? If your answer is no... then you are buying the card as an investment for future games.

My point is that when DX10 games, Vista and Ati DX10 hardware become commonplace, expect 8800series performance level for the price of 8600GT/8600GTS.
The deal breaker with the 8600 series for me is the 128bit interface. Actual game benchmarks (not 3dmark) show that 8600 series is outperformed by the high end 256bit 7 series and X1k series.

My advise to those planning on a videocard would be:

    1. If you have an existing 6,7 series, or X1k series its better to wait until DX10 games come out.... by then Ati and Nvidia will have DX10 hardware and you have the option to decide which one offers the better deal.

    2. If 8800 series is out of your budget, and you need a videocard now, its better to spend the least amount of money you can with a high end 7 series, X1k series or probably the cheapest 8500/8600GT you can find.... just remember that price/performance is the important factor here.

    3. Dont buy the card just because DX10 siya... remember what happened with FX 5200.

The biggest concern the thread starter raised on not going for 8800 series is the Price... All of that will change in the coming months. In terms of timing, I think when people buy a DX10 card, they would want to use the added features DX10 has. For this to happen...firstly, you need to use VISTA... second, you need to have DX10 games available. Until you have these both you aren't really utilizing your card fully.

you have your point bro i appreciate that, yes we dont know yet about the upcoming dx10 game of how this mid range 8 series handle the game but as of toms hardware is concern, the only mid range 8 series they are expecting to do the the job for the dx10 games are the 8600gt & gts card. for those who have 7600gt up to 7900 series, its not worth it if they are going to upgrade i decline to advise them, but for those who needs to buy vcard right now, i rather advise them to go for 8 mid series card considering the price that is even lower that most of 7 series card. unless of course they have money to burn then go ahead fo 8800 series and up.

i was able to play doom3 with my fx5200 at 800x600 and its very smooth, yun nga lang default setting lang or what we called low setting, but i enjoy playing doom3 with my fx5200...until this time my fx5200 played bf2 smoothly at default setting, and many games that most ordinary people used to play.....

Have you seen in Tom's hardware guide, slogan?
Best value Videocard for the masses...ang midrange 8 series card..so that is my point not really for a power hungry hardcore gamers...
