What does Image and likeness of God means:

Before we elaborate on what being created in the image and likeness of God means, it is appropriate to inquire as to what it does not mean. First, it does not mean that we are divine. Satan strives daily, of course to persuade us to believe that we are God (Genesis 3:5). In fact, deification of self is the central message of the New Age Movement. Consider, for example, the following quotation from Ramtha, a so-called “channeled” spirit that allegedly speaks from a higher realm through New Ager J.Z. Knight:

The biblical statement that mankind has been created in the “image and likeness of God.” God’s Word does not indicate that He created men and women in His essence, but in His image (Genesis 1:26). Only God is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient.

God revealed this truth when He said to the king of Tyre through Ezekiel: “You say, ‘I am a god, and sit in the seat of gods, in the midst of the seas,’ yet, you are a man and not a god” (Ezekiel 28:2, emp. added). In the Bible, only the wicked elevate themselves to the status of deity. King Herod flirted with self-deification—and died in a horrific manner as a result.

You miss something there, The SON has co-existed with the Father before the beginning. "In the same way we must think of the Son always, so to speak, streaming forth from the Father, like light from a lamp, or heat from a fire, or thoughts from a mind. He is the self-expression of the Father-what the Father has to say. And there never was a time when He was not saying it. But have you noticed what is happening? All these pictures of light or heat are making it sound as if the Father and Son were two things instead of two Persons. So that after all, the New Testament picture of a Father and a Son turns out to be much more accurate than anything we try to substitute for it. Isaiah9:6: For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Note the statement "child is born, son is given" it means Christ is begotten, not created. What does it mean?

We don't use the words begetting or begotten much in modern English, but everyone still knows what they mean. To beget is to become the father of: to create is to make. And the difference is this. When you beget, you beget something of the same kind as yourself. A man begets human babies, a beaver begets little beavers and a bird begets eggs which turn into little birds. But when you make, you make something of a different kind from yourself. A bird makes a nest, a beaver builds a dam, a man makes a wireless set-or he may make something more like himself than a wireless set : say, a statue. If he is a clever enough carver he may make a statue which is very like a man indeed. But, of course, it is not a real man; it only looks like one. It cannot breathe or think. It is not alive.

Now that is the first thing to get clear. What God begets is God; just as what man begets is man. What God creates is not God; just as what man makes is not man. That is why men are not Sons of God in the sense that Christ is. They may be like God in certain ways, but they are not things of the same kind. They are more like statues or pictures of God.

man is composed of the body, the spirit and the soul... what is in the same image and likeness with God? it is our soul, it is pure goodness same as God, mao na siya nga the kingdom of God is within us, ky our soul is in our body, now what is the role of our spirit, our spirit is evolving, learning what is our soul and God is, and he needs our body for that until such time nga in complete knowledge na siya with the soul and God and it can return to God. Medyo naa tay drawback ani TS, in Ezekiel 18:20 we read "The soul who sins is the one who will die. The son will not share the guilt of the father, nor will the father share the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous man will be credited to him, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against him." If this soul of ours is pure goodness same as GOD then it would follow that it would not be capable of sinning and doing acts of wickedness and yet in Ezekiel that is not the case. Matthew 10:28 "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell." Hell is for the Devil and the wicked. Why would the One destroy a soul in hell if it is pure goodness same as God?

No one can become like Jesus. He was supernaturally conceived through the Holy Spirit therefore devoid of a depraved nature while us? we are the exact opposite. We are capable of commiting acts of wickedness and we are so trapped in this nature that we need a Redeemer as the Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 7:24-25 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord! Reading all these earlier posts reminds me of the hypocrites and the pharisees, ARGUING, trying to disprove the other, talking about the word of God, squabbling like little children.

the bible is just a guide, the scriptures are compilation of narrations of different writers, parables(which are said to be taught by Jesus himself) are stories meant to teach us a certain lesson. All these things are not to be taken literally because if you would, most of which are not applicable today. Some of the stories also show contrasting ideas/views which would just add to your confusion(if taken literally) like stories about forgiveness...some stories view God as very forgiving while there are also a few showing his ruthless side.. thus a very literal man would kill himself asking "WHY?"..

instead of searching for the truth, searching for who is right or wrong, focus all your energy into living your life choosing the options which are "morally good". (i don't have to tell you what those things are, you'll know it by heart..)


andddddddd don't forget to pray and thank God for the life you're living (but just wasting on doubting or asking nonsense)
