imagine if all nations collaborate with no regard for nationalistic and ethnic pride and identities. Humanity would make huge leaps in space exploration. But i can dream can i?

btw are space stations intended for humans? coz i've heard from Carl Sagan that space stations are not really practical (i have to review what he really meant). Since robots can do the space exploration for us.
I think i've heard it here in Charlie Rose's interview with Carl Sagan before he died.

However, speaking in behalf of Sagan, if he indeed uttered such a phrase during an interview before, perhaps it's because of the fact that he still retains the nostalgia (and perhaps even bitterness) of the unmanned missions he became involved in (he was with the Viking Lander team, and the Pioneer/Voyager missions). During the 60's it was very hard to convince the US Government to conduct unmanned probing of the solar system due to the fact that the cold war was pressuring both US and Soviet governments to "up one another" in manned spacetravel (i.e. moon missions etc.). Thus, scientists like Sagan at the time, who were really interested in knowing more about the solar system, and wanted to send probes there, had to come up with various justifications on why unmanned missions are better and more economical than manned ones.
