    Default Endeavour (STS-127) Launch SUCCESSFUL!

    July 16 Launch SUCCESSFUL!

    I took this screenshot about 48 seconds after launch...

    Note the vapor condensation forming around the ET and the orbiter's nose...awesome

    I enjoyed watching it live Replay of launch available here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdBP1-vw2PE

    ================================================== ==================================

    STS-127 Mission Overview

    The 16-day mission will feature five spacewalks and complete construction of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency's Kibo laboratory. Astronauts will attach a platform to the outside of the Japanese module that will allow experiments to be exposed to space.

    The STS-127 crew members are Commander Mark Polansky, Pilot Doug Hurley and Mission Specialists Dave Wolf, Christopher Cassidy, Tom Marshburn, Tim Kopra and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Julie Payette. Kopra will join the space station crew and replace Japanese astronaut Koichi Wakata. Wakata will return to Earth on Endeavour to conclude a three-month stay at the station.

    I was looking for a BBCode specific solution. I don't think iStorya.net supports/encourage posting of dynamic images like Flash etc.

    Yep. Well, they're about to be retired soon, so I guess they're really showing signs of their age now. And to think it's the "youngest" shuttle. First launch of Endeavour was on STS-49, on May 7, 1992, so it's about 18 years old (counting delivery date of May 1991).

    UPDATE: Press conference ongoing, check the NASA TV link above.

    Also, will unsticky this topic and bring it back up on July 11 (next launch window).
