its 720px is progressive scanning, true high definition. not like with the other which has 1080px of interlaced scanning only.

despite there are accessories for those whistles of yours, the built-in mic and shutter timer are more than enough in the doing the job. never heard of a photographer complaining about having stereo external mic input to make photos aside from you. unless he/she wants to sing along while using the dslr "still" camera. the video capture capability is only a plus for marketing spice.

Well, there are videographers out there who resort to DSLRs cuz mahal ang mga 3CCD cameras. The 7D and the 550D are good choices for them because of the external mic input. But you're right. If you're after great stills, that doesn't matter.

I sense your hostility towards me because you think I'm bashing the D90. I apologize if I gave you that impression. I'm only pointing out the features that the 550D have which the D90 don't have, just to give the TS some options. Please don't interpret my posts and tag me as a Nikon hater. I love the D90. If I'm at an event, or situation wherein I need really great photos, the D90 paired with the 18-105 kit lens has never let me down.

All I did was point out 3 things that the 550D has that the D90 did not have. So again, sorry if I offended.

Peace nata gud. Wa man ko ngita away.

there really is a huge difference using an hdtv

the features of video capability in a dslr still camera is very crippled compared to a dedicated video camcorder as is not designed with. serious videographers will have pain from the limitations. naturally, ccd video camcorders are expensive due to by the name itself, ccd, which are expensive to manufacture. these dslrs are also made from cmos sensors, fyi. there are lower cost cmos camcorders with professional features/capabilities similar cost to dslrs like these, like the well known canon hs s10 vixia series with 24p cinema mode and 30p capabilities; they should be getting/using that instead than a dslr still camera with limited video capability/features and not intended to.

hahahaha!^^ don't worry, i wasn't thinking you as being a nikon hater. hostility is a harsh & superlative word to used to. argument with looking to further healthy conversation is much better to read.

huge difference?! lol! another one being fooled by marketing hype in this world.

mind you, don't be caught by numbers. you are taking it as with megapixel marketing poison by camera manufacturer nowadays..

720p signals have a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels whereas 1080i signal have a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels. thats only a 640px of fake resolution difference specially if we are talking about progressive vs interlace.

notice the progressive scanning of a full motion photo while the other are just interline scans as with its name, interlace.

interlace video produces flicker and artifacts(interline twits) with your “using an hdtv” specially if its converted to another format/editing.. interlace is a compressed signal and used by tv broadcasting stations for lesser bandwidth(pasensya na abot nako og networking).

Interlace signal is developed for old “cathode ray tube” television as its native signal. progressive signal is optimized for LCDs and LCD televisions(HDTVs).

    progressive scan:
    axis network progressive camera

see full clearer size --> http://img641.imageshack.us/img641/7738/progscan.jpg

    interlace scan:
analog(as like with crt tv) cctv interlace camera

see full clearer size --> http://img375.imageshack.us/img375/3350/interlaced.jpg

interlace scan is a big no no for fast paced movies/videos.

    in addition,

nikon uses avi format video from microsoft which is more popular and widely used native format compared to canon's mov format from apple which still needs the H.264 codec. are we going to talk about widely usable editing programs for? never mind, youll know the answer..

OT: hehehe. aw. abi nko imo nko birahan ug mag abot ta. murag mag abot raba jud ta. you're joining the southbound trip right?

Anyway, regarding DSLRs being used for serious videography, They actually used 5D Mark IIs to shoot the entire finale of House Season 6 because of its size. The whole episode was shot in very tight spaces.
House Season Finale Filmed Entirely with Canon 5D Mark II

But I doubt if the ts will care much for this though. Hehehe.
