mao sad.... faeta gyud aning Computer industry oie... if naay mu gawas nga bago nga PC ila sad parisan ug games nga like "runs great with quead core". WHEN does IT stop.

go with video card and ram..those are the most important.. try using the 9600GT or GSO.. its cheap.. just overclock it.. then 2gb RAM.. then you can use a athlon x2 4600 or dual core.. dont have to go to core 2 duo kng gamay au imong budget.
Do you know that motherboards will turn down the multiplier when not needed hence its not OC'ing all the time. As I said, its not the OC that would kill your rig, but the temperatures. Even if you dont do OC but your rig has poor airflow, then you run the bigger risk of killing your rig.
I dont agree on the monthly bills part too, if you dont want to have a big monthly bill, then why bother buying a high end computer? Why bother playing computer games at all?
If we use Physx Hardware accelerator or if Nvidias Cuda drivers would be a mainstream and if most games are optimized with CUDA or Open CL for ATI. CPUs will have less usage. So slow or fast cpus would not matter.
@kenshiro:
that would be in terms of gaming. but on most cases, i.e. multimedia, development, etc, cpu speed and power would still matter.
lisoda sad anang next year oi wahehe...
and btw, kanang mga bagong PC/components ron ba,
mga pila kaha ka tuig ang tagal kung tarong ug airflow ug power?
kay kaning pc nako ron mga 5years na, pero nanay mga itlog mga capacitor, and 2 na ka PSU guba wahehe...
karon pa man ko anang branded PSU gud whehehe
depende man jud sa use sa imong pc bai. there are some compromises in buying a PC on a budget. remember, you get what you pay for.
motherboards may be smart these days but still you apply more stress to your components which would add more wear and tear to the parts. for the temperatures, youre only focusing the processor. you should also take into consideration that when you overclock, your motherboard, rams would get hotter where good airflow would be very necessary. if you dont overclock, value rams will do, cheap motherboards with good chipsets (which costs about 2k or more will have little or no difference with the performance against overclocking mobo with the same chips at stock settings) will be fine, the stock cooler is enough and airflow wont be a big concern. plus one more thing, processors these days are already more than enough for gaming and most apps and you dont really need too much processor power.
what i dont agree with your post is your statement that when you overclock, you save money. you only save money for your processor but youre increasing the investment for the motherboard, rams and coolers plus risks of stability problems. thats why i prefer buying a core2duo e7200 processor with a cheap ecs mobo (usually costs only 2k) against an overclocked e2160 at 3Ghz with an overclocking mobo (which costs 6k+). in terms of power consumption, the higher clock you go, the higher is your power consumption. thats why an e7200@ 2.53Ghz will consume less power against an overclocked e2160 @3Ghz but in terms of performance, you could hardly see a difference. that is what i mean when i said that overclocking wont give you savings savings in terms of electricity bills.
nindot na imo setup bai. maka upgrade ka hinay2x on different parts. unaha lang gyud imo ram and vc since you are into gaming. everything else looks good for your budget and hopefully they would last you untill your next rig. hmm.... after 2 years i suppose?
