I am a Theist But in most part i agree with this, I think most of the Christian religions are wrong when they interpret and present God and its teachings from the Bible. Most of them focus on Scaring the people especially children about hell and damnation, they focus mostly on the punishment rather than the reward which I think is not correct. For me, the message of God is Love and Happiness, thus God set the rules for us to follow Not because of the punishment but the reward it can give to you and others - so i think its important to focus on that. There are religions/theists that I truly respect because of their adherence to reason, tolerance, non-violence, "practical" morality (if you can call it that), and a healthy attitude towards humor and s-e-x. Just to name a few: the Episcopalians, the Quakers (I only know about their non-violence and their struggle against slavery in history), the Buddhists/Taoists, secular Jews and liberal Catholics/Christians. I think, at the end of the day, different believers/non-believers connect on a common ground called Humanism.
