we can list a hundred reasons why the country's like this but if you come to think of it, most of them are circumstancial.

We need an outbreak to kill all politicians. They're very contagious even young leaders matakdan ug ka corrupt. If they all die basin na pa tay pag-asa. Pang gobyerno ang bulok sa atoang nasud.
Guys, what's stopping our nation in this market-driven era is our country's natural layout. Our bansa is composed of over 7,000 islands, right? This results to expensive transporation cost and too many cultures/dialects.
Crab mentality!
They are more concerned of having to prove who is better.... They think that their opinions are better... They should have done this and that... They battle over petty issues... Without getting anywhere.... Hahay....
Self-discipline
Filipinos rely so much on FATE... They love instant riches... Expects to win Lotto but doesnt bet. Prefers the easy way out. But i am not saying that Filipinos are lazy... nor stupid...
Identity Crisis
Well, Filipinos aren't really proud of our own culture...
and other things...
the 1st world countries exploiting us..
and yes a bit of crab mentality(expected na ky dugay nata ge colonize..even now tabla ra ta ug colony)
i believe we have an identity we just ned 2 embrace it n learn 2 love it..
we lack love 4 our country n the people in it...
para nku try 2 promote our own products here..try 2 trade embargo all non-essential exports...
this is hard yes but we need 2 be self sufficient not relying on other countries...
^
this sounds lyk communism na pero dli e copy lang ang singapore or japan...

Colonial mentality.
Filipinos love vices (although im not saying all but most do)...from Gambling, Womanizing, Drinking and all other vices....probably these stops Filipino from prospering.
What hinders us? Its purely Cultural. has nothing to do with Economics and Politics they are merely symptoms of the disease. We have very good economists, and our political system is quite alright but the problem is Culture and because of it we suffer Government corruptions, debt problems, crab mentality etcetera etcetera etcetera.....
the Problem is Culture. We have no SELF-IDENTITY or probably we have but still untapped. We have no National Spirit, a national pricinpile that we could proudly call ourselves a nation and a race of our own.
thats all.
i agree with child...how can we ever progress as a nation? f we dont even have the will 2 love our own.
