Dili man lang Filipino, bisag kinsa nga dili maningkamot dili gyod mo prosper
Out government leaders cease to inspire us. We got so attuned to their lies.
one word: DISCIPLINE!
We don't follow the rules, kung kinsa lang maka-una. I just wonder why Filipinos who go abroad can follow the rules of that nation but when Filipinos are in the Philippines wala.
We also lack HONESTY, mas daghan pa mang-ilad kaysa motabang.
Its the will of God that his creation will enjoy prosperity not poverty.
Human's view of prosperity is different from God's. Our view of poverty is likewise different from His.
Here are some reasons and theories why I think we dont prosper
1. Na ahat ta. As a people/nation we have not grown/developed the way the westerners did. Not that we cant develop like them, but we were prematurely uprooted from the indio way of living and transplanted to the modern way of living. The westerners gradually developed at their own pace. Kita gi ahat! Perhaps if the Spaniards left us alone we might have developed and prospered in our own way and at our own pace. ( Those b@st@rds! )
2. Our geography. Trading is more difficult and costly with thousands of islands. That somehow affects our economics. Ive also heard of a theory that says nations in the tropics are likely inclined to be poor. That seems to be true.
3. Us.
A) We have good laws. But we violate them. That is bad enough. But what's even worse is many get away from it. We need to follow these laws if we want to develop. The government spends thousands or millions in formulating those laws - they meet, they debate for months. And once they're there, people dont follow them. And the violators are either not caught or get caught but but still get away from it. Add to that the corruption of politicians and businessmen.
B) We are complacent. Complacency is very much evident, of all places, in the government offices. Just try transacting in govt. offices and surely somehow, naa gyud kay mareklamo. Naa gyud kay makit-an nga dapat ma-improve. Naa pud kay makit-an mga empleyado nga dli ganahan sa ilang gibuhat nga sungit kaau. Dayon kita pud dayon nga nakakita aning mga bati, hilom lang pud ta. People witness something wrong, and they just ignore it. They dont complain. And when they complain, nobody hears. If they hear, they dont listen. If they listen, they dont do anything. Kasagaran gani, kung kinsa pay mo reklamo siya pa nuoy daotan. How can we improve with this attitude?
C) We just dont help each other. We can see much of that in the streets. Look at our traffic. Mag unhanay, samot lang ma congested ang traffic. Pataka lang ug hunong. Daghan kaayo smoke belchers. etc etc. Daghani pa jed dili mangadakpan kay walay tig dakop.
Here's one big example on how we are not helping ourselves. In business and employment.... Our government relies so much on outside investors. Yes, that can somehow help us. That provides jobs to our citizens and some income for the government. But, in the long run, who ultimately wins and who somehow, looses? The foreign companies win - everything in the Philippines is cheaper, so they earn more. They get to hire the better employees too since they can give more to their employees. (Not that dagway tag kwarta, but hey, we need to survive and these companies increase our odds of surviving.) What about our local business? Can they offer salaries equal or better than the foreign companies? No! Employees from these local firms are even being pirated by the foreign companies. By that alone, our local companies somehow become weaker against foreign companies. Add to that the strength these foreign companies in terms of total earnings. That makes our local business so much weaker. So there you go. They get to earn more by spending less and by employing good workers (yes, that's us Filipinos). The more they earn and the more better employees they hire, the stronger they become. That makes our local businesses weaker. That will eventually kill us. It wont be quick but it slowly will. Look at the dark side of this too. They manufacture their goods in the Phil using our resources, using our manpower (destroying and polluting our environment too in the process). But once the products get to the Philippine market, they are so much more expensive compared outside the country. Kita ka ana? Sa pag baligya sa ila mga producto mapangwartahan pa ta! Sa ato man unta gi manufacture! Dapat naa unta ta dagko nga discounts.
I, myself even feel guilty about this. My current and previous employers are both foreign. I once worked in a local company. But it did not pay me enough. Life would be very difficult if i stayed there. I had to transfer to a better paying job. Money is not everything in a job but it's a big factor.
Another one - Call Centers. Before I continue, I mean NO offense to the call center industry. I have friends and relatives there! Call Centers are sprouting and booming everywhere in the country these days. Being an agent nowadays is cool. It pays very well too. Again, it's good because it pays thousands of Filipinos who would otherwise be underpaid or unemployed. It's even better if the call center is Filipino-owned. But what's the darkside? Most of the call center agents are technically skilled, many are engineers. And many of them would rather work in a technical or engineering job. But where? There may be alternatives but the compensation and benefits are low. So they work as agents. How sad. If the Philippines could just build local R&D, manufacturing and IT companies and hire these people... Instead of revenues going out, the revenues stay here in our own country. This way the Phil can compete globally rather than just being an alternative to the higher labor and operating costs outside the country. Instead of foreign companies taking advantage of the lower operational and labor costs here in the Phil. LET US use that advantage! NOT them!
D) Brain-drain. Our country spends millions or perhaps billions for education. We spend millions in building schools and facilities for the students. Our teachers and school staff do the hard work in educating our students. Our parents do the hard work to send us to school. But where do many of our graduates go or at least dream to go? Who reaps the fruits of their education? Where do they get to apply what they have learned? The foreign countries!!!! Whose country gets stronger and better by them? Whose country becomes weaker by doing all the work in educating it's people but losing them anyway. When 1 person leaves the Phil, we become 1 person weaker. When that person enters the US, the US becomes 1 person stronger. But relatively, the Phil becomes 2 persons weaker than the US and conversely the US two persons stronger than the Phil. These people we are loosing are not the just the tambays or the non-contributors of the society. These people are skilled, they are professionals. And F@*K the govt who's so proud about sending as many workers abroad!! No offense to our OFWs. Leave the Phil if thats your calling. But Im mad at our govt officials for the propaganda and for encouraging our people to leave the Phil. For the Filipino people's sake, let them stay and help build this nation. Why encourage them to leave and hail them for the dollars they bring?!?!?! Build businesses so that they stay!!! Dont be corrupt. Instead of using the law to milk them dry, abolish laws that make it difficult for them to develop, formulate laws that will help them prosper. Instead of exporting manpower, let the manpower stay and let us instead export our products.
Daghan pa pwede ma dungag pero taas na. Sunod na lang kung naa na pud ko time.
Sorry for the rant.
circumstance
And oh, 1 more thing.
E). We DONT love ourselves. We DONT love our own. Even as children we were already taught (unconciously) the idea that we are inferior. As youngsters we learned to use the words 'bisaya' and 'local' as synonyms of 'bad quality' or inferiority and 'imported' as better. "Ahhh bisaya man ng imong dulaan; local ra man na; ako imported." I think it should start with love. Love of self, love of the community, love of the nation. We can be disciplined, honest and hardworking but if we do not love ourselves we cant rise as a nation. A person who does not love himself, does not care about himself. Likewise, a nation that does not love itself does not care about itself. How can we be proseperous without that?
Last night as I was reading the book of Robert Kiyosaki, Rich Dad, Poor Dad, i learn thatthe reason why a person is not prospering its because he grows without the basic of financial literacy, we grow without the knowledge on how the money works
It grows in my heart that in order for us as a nation to be propperous we need to to study the basics and the foundational knowledge of money.
We cant blame it on circumstance. Although it may have had a big role in our spiral downfall, it doesnt mean we cant rise back up. Compare the Japan ater the bombing and the Japan now.Originally Posted by crinkle
