But if you'll look the BPO industry, call center is just a piece of it.

For instance in IT industry, there are many areas of outsourcing but these two are like the mainsteams: Software Engineering/Developement and Managed IT services (from helpdesk role to management of complex networks and enterprise solutions that are used by MNCs). The portion of what PH has gotten on these specific fields of IT is very little if you'll compare it to India.
if you compare IT capabilities... to india.... sorry to say India is better... they have java....

but when it comes to english fluency bisag unsa-on pa nila.... dili jud ganahan makig storya ang americans sa indians kai naa jud sila accent nga dili nila ma sabot....

I can still remember my irate customer before... she want to talk to a supervisor. and I lied and said my supervisor is an indian.... let me transfer you... she quickly said no.... I'm fine... and proceed to transaction.... ahahahaha

Our perception that we are the best English speakers in Asia may be a false presumption. It might be true that we have the highest percentage of proficient English speakers, but that doesn't translate to a huge advantage because India has a much larger population. So even if only 5% of Indians can speak well, 5% of billions of people can easily be more than the number of proficient English speakers we have in the Philippines.

true.... but why would the bpo industries are in here while indias labor is cheaper? answer?

They don't have the luxurious time to look for those 5% in a billion...

It's a waste of time and money..... rather than just establish a company where you can find fluent english with good accent just like finding water when you are thirsty..

    to all
BPO is not just limited to call center

Outsourcing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
outsourcing is often viewed as involving the contracting out of a business function - commonly one previously performed in-house - to an external provider

LOL the answer is that most BPO industries are not located here but in India. Sad but true fact.

Second, some BPO companies are locating here because of massive tax breaks given by our government not necessarily because of our English advantage.

I'm not sure what you're talking about when you say luxurious time, but what exactly do Indian companies have to do differently than Philippine companies to attract talent? They don't. It's the same shit, they advertise higher than average salaries and those 5% English speakers apply in droves... nothing difficult or time consuming about that. In this day and age, most people have access to internet and that 5% of proficient English speakers tend to be more affluent than the average Indian.

What will happen when the government decides to end these tax breaks (and they have to eventually, one way or another)? If you think the BPO call centers will still keep coming, bzzt you're wrong...

I never said phils/cebu have more bpo industries than india...

I was stating the fact why they prefer english speakers here...

I already stated in my previous post ITs and other technical BPO are in India no doubt...

I was emphasizing on the 5% english speakers part... I don't think we can beat india that already have more than $30 billion investments coming from bpo there....

I was just connecting the dots why cebu have had "Emerged" that is because of the english fluency...

It's because of tax breaks, not our English proficiency. We've been proficient in English since the American occupation but the BPOs still went to India before they came here. Why did the BPOs go to India first? Because their government instituted tax breaks and passed relevant laws before we did, in other words their government was faster. And of course, they are much cheaper.

depende kung unsa gi outsource sir

kung sa call center industry (US support).. cheap + daghan good (dili mag lisod ug sabot ang kaisotrya) english people
