Do you actually believe a guy as highly as accomplished as him will waste his time degrading people like us? Dili nana cya modagi-not ug 25 cents pre... Ayala has done more to the upliftment of Filipino Culture than any of us here in Istorya combined.. Do you have any clue as to what his foundations have done to uplift and make Filipino Culture known worldwide? Will there be a FERNANDO AMORSOLO without the Ayalas? Who was "ALLOWED" to design a SWATCH WATCH that was INSPIRED by a FILIPINO FLAG? Yeah he was allowed by Swatch because he is an AYALA and I doubt Swatch will allow people like us to do that. Remember our Centennial Celebration? Who was the biggest contributor to that 100th Filipino Independence Celebration? Do you think Ayala will go through all of these just so that he can DEGRADE FILIPINOS LATER??

To make things clear for you. Jaime Zobel De Ayala said the foreign investors and businessmen's main problem is the Filipino Work Ethic that means THAT IS THE CONCERN OF THE FOREIGN INVESTORS and BUSINESSMEN and NOT Jaime Zobel De Ayala's. THIS IS PROBABLY WHAT THE FOREIGNERS BROUGHT UP IN THEIR DISCUSSION. So it does not matter what he thinks, what we here think, because its the FOREIGNERS' OPINION. Ayala just shared what he encountered with us and now you are trying to make him a VILLAIN? I doubt any of us here has interacted more with Big Foreign Businessmen and investors than Jaime Zobel De Ayala. Remember the Ayalas have now taken an interest in BPO. I know Jaime's word is NOT the BIBLE but I would take his word anyday than some fellow istoryan with regards to the topic discussed... No offense to people in here.

No offense again, but its funny when people here say they agree or disagree with Jaime Zobel when in fact Jaime Zobel did not EVEN GIVE AN OPINION... He just "SHARED" WHAT HE EXPERIENCED... So he does not need OR EVER NEED any validation from us. You dont agree or disagree with experience but you "DIFFER" WITH EXPERIENCE... You agree or disagree with OPINION. But before we differ with what he experienced, how many of us have just been through a meeting with Foreign CEOs, COOs, CAOs, lately? Any of us just went through mergers and acquisitions worth millions or billions of $? So can any of us here really "differ" with him?

With regards to Americans being lazy, well I tend to agree with you in some fields "especially right now"... I too have an experience working with them, but probably not as too extensive than you, as my whole family was "there" for roughly 4 years during the Martial Law years. Last time I was there was 2002 and yeah there are welfare bums.
Its funny that you described people who built the Hoover Dam, Golden Gate, Holland Tunnel, etc. as people who are LAZY and AFRAID to do the 3Ds... Yeah you can say that many of them dont do it right now and let "cheap" 3rd world wetbacks do the job...
But the thing is, they can "afford" to do that right now..... BUT CAN WE FILIPINOS CONSIDERING OUR SITUATION RIGHT NOW AFFORD TO DO SO?
But are you also saying the people working in Boston's Big Dig Project right now are not Americans but Filipinos

To lighten up the topic.. You said they LET FILIPINOS DO THE DIRTY, DIFFICULT, DANGEROUS JOBS.... Going to the MOON is NEITHER EASY, CLEAN OR SAFE, so you mean the first man on the moon is a FILIPINO Hehehe J/K.
Then he should be careful in what he's saying. He's on the top and doesn't know whats going on below him. He had worked and experienced on people on his level but not the ones below him. If he's talking about average Filipino workers then we are better of skillfully and responsibly than other countries. I was just trying to comment that its not the real reason why we do not prosper because as he say; as a worker we are not in par with other countries.
And also, I don't make comments on somebody's intelligence because its too arrogant to do so. I make comments based on my experience and opinion and not because I am very intelligent and all knowing.

Becuase we always blame politicians in all the bad things that happend to this country.. Because we are also right in blaming them..why? because they argue about nonsense.. those senators and congressmen.. they keep on pulling down our felow citizen who do good.. coz they want to look good also by exposing those hard working gov officials' trash, like having large accounts to other countries or having a "kabit" or engaging in a scandal years ago!!

The failure of our country is also our fault, becuase we allocate funds for the partylists who form chaos in the streets by marching and causing traffic everyday.. each day they go rallying, our economy goes down..if they blame PGMA for oil price hikes or low income that's their fault.. because the more they protest the more our investors back out.. and this also causes the exchange rate of dollars to go sky rocketing..

the failure of our country is also our fault.. more and more people are unemployed because more and more people are way too lazy to look for a job that fits their skills.. most of the citizen of his country don't bother to help improve their community.. an example of this happend last week when it was raining so hard in our area, a resident woke our punong barangay (who is a woman) at 2:35 in the morning.. that resident makes "sumbong" to our "kapitan" that the creek was overflowing.. the house of this resident is in the squatters are and his home is a foot away from the riverbanks.. so our kapitan went there bringing a shovel and other tools for digging.. when she arrive there she started digging the creek to remove whatever is blocking the creek and to lead the water to the river.. as she went on digging there were 6 other able bodied men in the area to her dismay they were just looking at her, nobody helped her untill she finished the job..she was so mad that she reprimended all of the men on the site..
this story just tells me that the bayanihan spirit of all of us is lost and that is the main reason why this country would never improve.. we don't act on helping others we just talk..

Filipinos -- gullible, unimaginative, rigid thought patterns. Filipinos never think outside the box and funny thing about it is other third world countries[indonesia, mexico, brazil] are just as corrupt or far worse than the Philippines but their economy is way larger than ours.

Personally, there is a lot of problem happen to my family due to poverty mentality. My family is broken, coz my father was insane due to the frustration that he could not provide a better life for his children. We are not oriented about financial literacy and the opportunity to maximize the law of supply and demand.

You really have a point...some people misinterpreted the church's teaching..."Blessed are the poor for the kingdom of heaven is waiting for them"...dammit!...ehhmmn...but I think it's not the main factor...I can say that it's with our attitude...I mean most Filipinos are Lazy...haven't you noticed how lazy most of us

One thing that most Filipinos haven't learn or been taught: Self made and make good judgement. If you do not set your own rules for life they will be set by others without you even knowing what they are! Some are good. Some are bad. Some are downright evil. Many are contradictory to others. A lot of successful millionaires and billionaires in the world either never finish college, never gone to college, or had no formal education of some kind.

But yes I accept that Filipinos are not productive because they don't love their own countrymen. Because they like to buy imported than locally manufactured. Yes, Filipinos are also undisciplined. And they are short sighted too. BUT WE ARE NEVER LAZY OR INCOMPETENT.
And not to mention many Americans are not able to finish college, yet they still manage to work things out and still have a bright future.
