My 2 cent opinion on why its very tedious for Pinoys to prosper. These are the following,
to wit;
(1) That we Filipinos are damaged culture,
considering the multi-foreign
influences that we have- Malay, Chinese, Spanish,
and the Americans.
(2) That as an archepelagic nation, we have
become fragmented in
terms of social, economic, culture and ethnic
origin.
(3) That our sense of Nationalism is distorted
imminent with our being
colonial minded. Mahilig tayo sa branded ug
stateside nga butang.
(4) That our country is very highly influenced by
external pressures
such as IMF and other debtor’s austerity
measures, open trade, and most especially,
the US whose neo-colonialization is still very
evident.
(5) That We are not a tax-driven country. We even
abhor
taxes yet we expect more from the government in
terms of services, pensions and
loans. Our taxation policies have a lot of flaws. We
make a lot of exemptions like no
tax impose for churches, no tax impose on
schools, charitable institutions and the
like.
(6) That, most often than not, government programs
are always
contradicted. We put more emphasis on
contradiction than conformation at
katakot takot na argumento and dadaanan bago
mapasa ang isang bill.
(7) That generally, we are driven more on politics
than economics.
(

That psychologically, most Filipinos are
pessimistic. We take pleasure
in grandeurizing other peoples mistakes. And yet
its hard for us to correct our own
faults.
However, hope is not that far. Probably, it’s a good
start if we think of more WE as Filipinos and not
ME as a selfish individual.
