The very mindset nga "We can dream up all sorts of solutions to bring us to utopia" is the reason why we cant do it.

This is not about not having the right "can do" attitude.

It's an issue about being specific as to what you want to happen. It entails thinking deeper into what SPECIFICALLY needs to be done. Not just general answers like "education is the key". Those countries you mentioned had people who thought up of specific solutions to the problems. The first thing to do is actually to properly identify what the real problem is. Without a proper diagnosis, you cant come up with a proper solution. Pareha ra gud na sa medical field. You have to identify the what the cause is and make sure your solving the problem itself and not just the symptom of the real problem.

We have to play an active role sa atong government. The very act of participating in political forums is a step in doing that. We can say that we are more politically active then most people. Having said that, we can't be content with just voting for people then pasagdan nalang sila once they are in power. Thats what dirty politicians want people to do... basta people wont mind what theyre doing ,... lipay kaayo sila ana...

We vote for these people to be our public servants. PUBLIC SERVANTS...

Analogy... If you hire someone to do a job for you, do you just leave them to themselves without at least giving them input on what you want them to do? It's the citizenry's job to check up on its government and be critical of the decisions they are making for the country.

Inherently, we have a stake in what these people do in that our lives are affected by their actions. Our role is to let them know what the problem is and give them feedback on whether the solutions are working or not. This feedback mechanism usually comes in the form of criticisms.

Criticisms should be done in a constructive manner also.... like.. I don't like the president because he did this.. while he should've done that.... we should avoid useless criticisms such as personal attacks and criticisms without offering any solution don't really do much.

This should apply to all government officials also... national and local.

You also assume that tarong atong tanan government officials. For me, the problem is a lack of true representation sa congress. Otherwise, we would have passed the reproductive health bill and freedom of information act already.

You are supposing that you are under the government's power. What ever happened to the term PUBLIC SERVICE. Chain of command does not apply to a democratic form of government where the power should reside with the people.

Created this thread to give people perspective on the population problem.

However people interpret it is solely up to them. It may be an eye opener for people who dont think that population is an issue that affects our country.

My personal view on this is basically this:

- Education, Health care and Unemployment.... are directly impacted by the population growth.

Overpopulation is one of the root causes of our low income per capita.

Lack of educational facilities, health care and employment opportunities is a symptom of the problem.

Solution is to implement effective population management. This is done through educating our people on responsible parenthood and reproductive health and giving them access to health care and birth control methods should they chose to do so. this is the reason why the passage of the RHB is important.

Church can give spiritual advise to the people but it is ultimately up to the family to decide and the church should not interfere with the choice. Also, along with promoting natural family planning, the church should also teach people that having more children than can be supported is morally wrong.

Good point by the TS, there is really a big impact if we wish to correlate overpopulation with poverty. The resources for sustenance, job for instance would be exhausted in order to support the thriving growth of the population, thus eventually resulting in dire straits situation for the populace.

But the church could not really intervene and try to halt the ever increasing population through influence, for the church has it's own mandate that they do not have the authority to change. The Church is merely following what was written and does not have the will whatsoever to change what the bible contains.

I guess it is for the individual to decide basing upon his capacity and perspectives of how he/she would deal the difficulties of raising a family. I agree education should be implemented as to realize and let everyone be learned and be efficiently able to plan a better life ahead.

First off, there's no overpopulation crisis in the world. That statement is highly misleading. The only problem stems from corruption & waste. If the leadership wasn't so corrupt & wasteful Philippines & all the other nations in the world would have everything they needed, but of course leadership looks out for number one, numero uno, themselves instead of the community & everyone else suffers because of it. Don't buy into that this place is too overpopulated! That's BS propaganda to get you to accept lower quality services, lower your expectations from your leaders, and to sacrifice what you have for the better of the community when the leadership is the one with all the resources and should be doing that.
