Tomas O chides businessmen for backing ecozone - INQUIRER.net, Philippine News for Filipinos

Osmeña said investors will flock to Cebu instead of Bohol and Negros Oriental since the taxes here would be free.

“So what happens is that people from around us will also come because the jobs are here and we'll end up absorbing the influx of population and have many urban poor and that's another problem we should again solve.”

“We should also consider how national policies will affect Cebu's development as a whole,” Osmeña said, adding that the business sector should also look at the whole scenario from the government's perspective and not only as businessmen.

Dili man totally mawala ang business tax. Maka enjoy lang ang mga investors ug tax holiday. I guess for 5 yrs. to give way in stabilizing their businesses.

I am referring to the time nga ma implement ang ecozone. Daghan na unya nga job openings kompara sa karon. Ang pangutana, qualified ba sa job openings ang majority anang 3M. Maau man ug factory worker lang na ang job opening diha. Those 3M unemployed are mix of different skills baya.

did I say giving a house to jobless people? And you say "Almost", so it means not everyone, and I already said in my previous post that not everyone can find a job..

tell that to millions of people who are jobless, some of them also don't qualify even for a gasoline boy..and don't directly compare us also in HK and SG, 'coz as what you said, they are highly develop countries, and we are not..

Hahaha you didn't pero so what do you propose to do with all those people who can't find the job. How is that point relevant as a counterpoint to the ecozone idea? Aren't there already jobless people today? I'm just confused by your statement because it seems to me you are against ecozone unless everyone can afford a house. I don't see any evidence that fewer people will be able to afford a house if we became like SG. Yes, homes will be more expensive but salaries will increase too. How many pinoys now can afford a house? not counting squatters...
