This is one idea that I am in favor. I don't like the current system wherein we vote for 12 senators every three years, mostly from the Luzon region. How would the Senate represent the whole country when most of its members are from the Luzon region? Also, now that we have a different method of voting, it's really tiring to read over 80 names to vote for 12 senatorial candidates.

At least in this proposal, we would only have to vote for one senatorial candidate in every election, and we can be assured that every region in the country is represented in the Senate. That, I believe, is how a Senate should be represented.

Actually, there has been an existing group who advocated this change. In fact, it is registered in SEC. And I am a member of that group, all who support federalism can be a member too. I'll try to contact our president and probably arrange a meeting about this. The group has affiliate in Mindanao and Luzon. We can revive and push through this change. The group's name is Cebu Federal Incorporated, a.k.a. Cebu Federal Movement.

We will conduct an information drive to the public. Coordinate with schools, religious groups, and other organizations.

If we will switch to federalism without addressing our problems first like corruption and discipline, our poor country will still be the same - our BIG problem will just be segregated into smaller groups called states.

    a bit OT i think:

Is this "Cebu Federal Movement" a political group? If so, which affiliation are you and what is your political party?

Federalism will address those issues you have mentioned. How? Corruption will be minimize because the budget is within the state and it is easier to trace where the money has gone.
