You might want to know that the film which friedrich_solitaire recommended, perhaps in jest: "The Reader", starring Ralph Fiennes and Kate Winslet, is RATED R due to delicate scenes where the protagonist, a high school boy, has a sexual relationship with an older woman.
Just a heads up.
Though I'm not a teacher of literature, I am its persistent student. What I'd like to humbly suggest is help your students become aware of and enjoy the different genres in literature that are now considered classics. Like sample works from Robert Howard, HP Lovecraft, Ray Bradbury, HG Wells, O. Henry et cetera, particularly their short stories which I think is can serve as suitable appetizers to the unlimited buffet that is Literature.
