    Smile Airline Travel with Kids/Infant

we are scheduled next month to travel for the first time to the land down under (Australia) on a Cathay Pacific economy class. Our main concern is with our 2 kids (ages 1 and 2 years). Since this will be our first time, I'm asking for your TIPS and advise in order to get through with this quite difficult ordeal

thanks a lot for your feedback!

Inform cathay in advance that your travelling with infant so they can prepare baby food; If you purchse your ticket online then you can check-in at least 24 hrs prior to your schedule departure. That way you dont have to be in-line on crowded economy counters but on the business/First class counters. and you can choose seats...and always choose the bulkhead seats if you have infants and kids. You need to bring new toys, dont show them at once but one at at time, at least your baby will be pre-occupied with the new toys. And also bring umbrella type strollers since its gonna be a long walk for you in HK. Dont feed him while you are still in the terminal, only when the plane is starting to accelerate for the take-off, this will surely help your baby with the ear issue.

ako kay 2 mos pa ako g travel ako bby. since ako man xa g anak sa gawas den uli mi dri sa cebu. i bought tnn jud from birth cetificate, passport and some hospital certificate to certify nga ako ang mama. then g priotitize ko sa airline ako gsakyan. i tink sa tnn airline e prioritize na parents na magdala ug mga bata ipa una jud na sila sakay sa plane. then nig sakay the airline will give a gift like coloring book crayons, puzzle para malingaw ang baby while ga ride sa plane.then if padung na mu depart nag plane. kay pa usapa lng ug gum imu babies or pa imna ug milk or sumthing to chew para dli musakit ilang ear sa pressure buh do the same sa padung landing pud.malingaw rmn nang kids ana. hehe kay 1st time bya. then take jud ug pictures para naay remembrance ang kids sa ilang 1st tme ride sa plane. im sure your kids will have so much fun. have a safe trip

agree with all above. if I may add, make them awake and busy hours before departure aron by the time mag-take-off both will be sleeping. let them play during the long ride from HK to oz, its a long one from 6 to 8hrs depending where you're goin. time it so that they will tire and sleep for landing

the 2yo will be restless (they all are) so now pa, start conditioning his mind like play question and answer games about staying put, even explaining what it means so that he would know that people stay put during take-off and landing. when the belt lights are off, dont be afraid or ashamed to walk them around, other passengers will even smile wanting to grab and babysit them. note: some crews will even bring the kids up to the captain for a quick visit when they're not busy. look especially at the flags just below each cabin crew's name plate. kamao na ka unsa na hehe!

best of all, change your view on this... it NEVER is an ordeal if you think its not. i'm telling you ITS NOT!

Its important during take off and landing that they are sucking on to something - milk on a bottle or water para maequalize ilang ears ug dili magsakit due to pressure. Usually this is the common mistake of parents nga patulugon ang anak during take off/landing. Mohilak lang kalit ang bata kay nagsakit ang ears.

Also bring along lots of activity toys/books para dili sila ma-bored. Some airlines provide these too pero dali ra mapul-an ang mga kids. So mas daghan mas maayo.

And condition their mind prior to the trip.
