Apparently, no law will be violated if Noynoy takes his oath before his barangay captain. I say he should do it before this LOWLY man if only to show that the presidency of the Philippines is for the greater majority.

What embarrassment? When some people say that the swearing in by Noynoy before his barangay captain will embarrass the country, do they lay claim to embarrassment for having LOWLY people getting the publicity? We use Juan to portray the true Filipino face and circumstance and we flash his face throughout the world ( look at how many OFWs we have across the globe) and take pride in him, so there's definitely nothing wrong with empowering the barangay captain and giving a few minutes of fame to this lowly man or woman.

Corona's appointment to SC chief justice is certainly TAINTED. It doesn't take a genius to figure out his being beholden to the outgoing administration. He will not and cannot be perceived as independent because he has always demonstrated partisanship. This is the kind of partisanship (or obvious corrupt practice) that typifies the Arroyo administration.

The people have repudiated the Arroyo administration, resoundingly I must say, giving credence and truth to reports on corruption. A lowly man may not understand the dynamics of politics but he/she can undoubtedly see when politics is used to further personal ends. He/She knows too that the ballot is his/her most potent arm in saying "NO MORE".

The people who have repudiated the exiting administration are those who the barangay captain truly represents - not Corona. It is time to deviate from tradition if only to send a message that the Republic of the Philippines is really for the likes of the barangay captain, Juan. If, after the oath taking ceremony Noynoy decides to have a grand victory celebration with a sumptuous dinner for the Juans and his barangay captain as special guest, I'm sure he will not spend as much if he treats them to a dinner in America.

It is really when we think of our political leaders (and other leaders in governance) as SPECIAL that they too will come home each night (if they do come home)thinking they are indeed special, forgetting that they are PUBLIC SERVANTS. Again, it is about time to change tradition if what we do (or at least our political leaders)is to always bring back to the people the spotlight, the dinners, the taxes, the Malacanang (Congress, SC)and what it represents, etc.

guys, the legality of Pres. Arroyo's appointment of Corona has already been settled. so there's no issue on that, okay?
There was even an argument presented (take note: before the election) that what if the next president who will appoint the next CJ is a subject of an election protest?
anyway, the appointment of an incoming CJ is not part of what they called as "midnight appointment".
Thus, it's legal. 'Coz if it was not, then the SC Justices, headed by CJ Puno, would be the first one to contest it.

Anyway, we all know that Noynoy is the next president of the country. No question about it. I have already moved-on on that thing. We all should move on nalang and support him.
But I really don't like the way he handles things right now. If he doesn't like some things right now, he should just plan silently (and humbly) on what he will do and deal things "professionally". For me, he's really still an immature public official.
He's dictating things when in fact, he's still not yet a president.

When he will be already our president, he can do lots of things with his vast powers. But as of the moment, I think he should just be silent and iron out his plans well so that he can achieve his promises.

Wala pa na resolve ang issue regarding midnight appointments. A motion for reconsideration is yet to be ruled by the Supreme Court raised by former Ombudsman Marcelo Simeon.
