CPP: Document an AFP fabrication--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THE Communist Party of the Philippines yesterday said a supposed rebel document purportedly proving the communist movement’s hand in the killing of leftist activists is a fabrication of the military.

CPP spokesman Gregorio "Ka Roger" Rosal said the forged document, "Paglilinis ng Bushfire sa mga Nakakapasok na mga Ahente ng Kaaway," is being peddled by national security adviser Norberto Gonzales.

The document, which was reportedly recovered by soldiers from the Southern Luzon Command in Tagkawayan town in Quezon province, was first made public last week by Solcom spokesman Maj. Jose Broso.

Broso said the document, which he said came from the CPP leadership, proves that the spate of killings of leaders and members of militant groups was aimed at cleansing the movement of suspected military spies.

Rosal called the document "newest lie fabricated by the Armed Forces of the Philippines."

He said the military has been desperately linking the CPP and its armed wing, the New People’s Army, to the killings even before the recovery of the supposed document.

"The Arroyo regime’s psywar spin doctors have, in fact, been so busy churning up one lie after another that they can’t even get their stories straight," he said.

"Gonzales doesn’t seem to care at all that he has totally been discredited and that nobody buys his lies anymore," Rosal said, adding it was not the first time Gonzales peddled false information.

He cited a recent claim by Gonzales that a mass grave of rebels supposedly executed by the NPA was found in San Fernando, Bukidnon. The report was denied by Gov. Jose Zubiri as well as local government, military and barangay officials.

"Norberto Gonzales is resorting to such incredible tales in the Arroyo regime’s desperation to cover up its responsibility in the continuing killings being directed by Malacañang and implemented by the AFP and its ‘Black Army’ of death squads," said Rosal.

The CPP and a number of left-leaning groups have pointed to the military as behind the killing of around 600 leftists and activists since President Arroyo assumed power in 2001 but the Armed Forces leadership flatly denied the accusations. — Victor Reyes
