you think we get those plane and huey for free?, we pay for it, thou barato siya tungod sa defense grant sa US, we pay for their transport and upgrade... so its not free...

can you be more specific what hardware did the US gave that we are not able to maintain?, maybe i could shed some light on it if i can dig something... and can you post any references you base on?

you think we get those plane and huey for free?, we pay for it, thou barato siya tungod sa defense grant sa US, we pay for their transport and upgrade... so its not free...

hehehe..sadly bro thats what they think...we get everything from US for Free..they dont know that we pay for the transportation and other requirements before those heli reach our shore...hehe,,they should visit the site sometimes....for them to be enlighten...

seriously?? you never know how effective those prop plane are on COIN, geez!!!!, we dont need MRF not now, we dont have any external threat, we envy them because they have those cool stuff, pinoy jud.... having an MRF would certainly drain our resources.... wa jud diay ka kabalo sa COST OF OWNERSHIP sa mga eroplano nga bag-o, i suggest all people who keep saying nga weak ta, go here -> timawa.net and be educated as to why we still use those plane... ang Modernization dili na siya usa bag-sakan, it takes phases and batch...

prop plane are ideal for COIN/CAS, jet plane are useless and futile if used as a CAS on a COIN,

Prop planes proved their worth in Vietnam with types like the OV-10 Bronco and most especially the A-1 Skyraider, which was unbeatable in close air support and combat search and rescue missions. The Skyraider could get really "up close and personal" during strafing runs. One pilot took it too far when he came home with shredded body parts of a hapless Vietcong in the engine cowling.

After Vietnam the United States fell into a jet-only mindset, thinking prop planes would not survive the air force's primary mission of fighting World War III against the Warsaw Pact.

But now that air superiority is no longer an issue (wherever they go the United States will always have control of the skies sooner or later) and the US finds itself embroiled in fighting insurgencies in Iraq, Afghanistan (and even Pakistan to some extent, it is beginning to rethink prop aircraft. Even the vaunted A-10 Warthog is too fast for some missions. Some of the special ops guts (particularly the Navy Seals) want the Embraer Super Tucano which can be converted into a COIN aircraft with a good weapons payload and endurance--just like the faithful A-1 Skyraider. Civilian security contractor Blackwater already has or will soon have Super Tucanos in their mini air force inventory.

exactly as what im pointing out, prop planes are best suited for CAS, COIN and FAC, i think most us pinoys has the same mindset as the US did before, thinking the jet plane is more superior, yes it is superior but futile if use in COIN/CAS/FAC which is now the trend on the battlefield...
i would rather get more bronco that get the latest jet plane....

what we need now is interim fighter not MRF we are not ready for that we dont have the resources yet...

Bro aware ko sa cost sa planes.. it doesnt mean dli ta ka afford.. ka afford man gani ang other countries nga weaker pa sa atong economy....

Anyway this is the latest from PAF:

The Philippine air force is looking to follow a decision on eight utility helicopters by also acquiring one Lockheed Martin C-130H and three smaller transport aircraft.

The service has decided to buy eight W-3 Sokol combat utility helicopters from Polish manufacturer PZL Swidnik, it says, adding that the budget is 3 billion pesos ($65 million). Deliveries will start later this year.

i dont know what they are going to buy..pro kung kita gusto mg upgrade ug equipment ang air force,,how much more sila nga sila man ang mogamit,diba? so wait and see lang ta,they know what to buy and when to buy...salig lang ta...slowly but surely...they can fight back if the need arise....pinoy pa..

we dont need to compete with our Asian neighbors..they don't have internal problems like ours..NPA..MILF,ABU SAYYAF ect....

our foot soldier are as capable or even better that our Asian neighbors..

gamay ra gihapon na compare sa atong problema sa insurgency,,wala koy idea kung ng donate ba ang philippines ug OV-10 sa Thailand but kung donate man gali, kato to ang prime time sa Philippines armed forces,,60s and 70s we are the most capable armed forces in the region,,
