Let's try to analyze the logic of this claim. 50/50 means there's 50% chance of survival. This roughly means that, for every day you live, every other day you have a chance of dying. Which means if you've been living on the moon for a year (365 days), then there's 182 days that you might die. 182 days...are you kidding? The regularity of comets are not even on a monthly basis, so how will your figures add up?

Its actually 365 days and the probability is 50% every single day.

But being afraid of being hit by a comet is totally baseless. Sir Rodsky is right, the probability of that happening is very low and since duol ra ang moon ug ang earth then probability will almost be the same whether you're in the moon or here on earth.

The Moon can be an effective base of operations for scientists and researchers, or probably a refueling station once we figure out Helium-3 extraction (the lunar dust, or regolith, is rich in this precious gas). Read up on Helium-3:

But the Moon's gravity is only 1/6th that of the Earth's. If you were to live there permanently, you'd probably want to stay there. Your muscles will have atrophied to a point where you'll find it difficult to even stand up in normal Earth gravity. Probably a good amount of exercise will help, and if we do find a way to prevent muscles from atrophying due to minimal gravitational pull...

I remember an amusing story a while back, about two guys (one slim/fit and the other rather overweight) talking about athletics on the moon. The big guy argued that, since he would only weight 1/6th of his earth weight on moon, that he would be able to run as fast, jump as high, and be light on his feet as the slim guy.

Now, as a puzzle for you guys, do you think what the big guy said was true? A specific case--suppose both guys were asked to race across a zigzag course from point A to point B on the moon, who do you think has a higher chance of reaching point B first?
