It also means it's not a core programming language, it only RIDES ON the existing platforms.
It doesn't even execute on other OS. lols!!!!!! And you still call it a programming language? hahaha tickle me. Other people would use wine or emulator just for the sake of running it on linux.

    FYI for you n00b.

"high-end" -- it's not a proper adjective for a programming language. Better should use it with cars, gadgets and anything describes cheaper/expensive/high/low quality and price things. You mean high-level? Yes it's a high-level language.

"executing with other OS" is not attributed if it's programming language or not. It is a feature if a programming language is portable or not. And yes PB executes in other OS if you refer Unix platforms without using wine. Hagbay ra ning balitaa 1990s pa. The new version runs on JEE and .NET, and that concludes it runs on other OS right?

correction lng gamay... dili runs on .NET, but supports .NET, new version runs on isolated version of Visual Studio. I really don't care if it will run in any platform using WINE or any other else, as long as it is running. LOL.... na unsa naman intawon ni woi.

As I see it, it evolved already. If it makes sense for your presentation layer, why not?. This is the same story with JavaFX in Java. And those languages (PS, Java, C#) will stay for long. If XAML has control structure like loop, if-else, luoda na tingali ana. Imagine xml with logics.

your 2nd question is that depends kung asa ka comfortable. Powebuilder proggies say they will have the quickest solution and the answer would be reverse with jee and (legacy) .net programmers.

List of programming languages - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Powerscript and Powerbuilder are both listed there. Case closed.

    Move forward guys.

    *sighs*

I just realized now that i wasted a lot of time to a n00b.

few quotes from n00b and everything is coming from dodie:

    "high-end programming language"

"MFC is a progrmaming language" -- this is funniest.

    "dont execute on other OS"

".net as a programming language" -- 'runner up'

"CGI is a programming language" -- runner up!! LOL.

"vb is a lousy programming language"

"I'm sure that powerbuilder can't do customized algorithm for special execution."

"Therefore RAD doesn't care about the small details in development."

And in the end he said 'he is just bluffing'. LOL.

    Bangaa ka.

You should really experience the magic of a DATAWINDOW© a patented control in PowerBuilder.

"database integration and lots of giant third party integration such as Intel, IBM etc…"

    What third party?
Database connectivity in Powerbuilder is "NATIVE" that supports ORACLE, SYBASE, MSSQL, DB2 etc. Using third party components with database integration lags your client-server application.

"Sybase updates the PB for every 1.5 years or more… that‘s a huge drawback for a so-called RADTOOL!"

I don't see anything wrong with a company that rides along the waves of technological development.

    Quoting Wiki again:

"As a result of its sophisticated connectivity, and the efficiency of the DataWindow, PowerBuilder applications have been observed to outperform many other competing applications in terms of the number of seconds it takes to retrieve data from a database and display it to the user."
