If you're looking for Anime conventions, as far as I remember there is a planned convention in late October/early November called ArchCon. In December there will be Otaku Fest. You might want to check their threads, also in this section. Cosplay events, or conventions with them, have really proliferated since 2007. It's great!

I remember this thread.
There are a lot of conventions in Cebu already. Maybe even more next year.
