Ako kay 18-55mmVR akong kit lens. After one week sige praktis, na bitin ko kung lagyo akong gusto tirahan mao to palit dayon ko 55-200mmVR. Karon wala nakoy problema from 18 to 200 nga range. Next project is to buy a wide converter lens for the kit lens. Maka-view naka up to 13.5mm. So kaya na nako ang 13 - 200mm range ... hehe

Go for the 18-55 KIT Lens... mas versatile cya kesa 50mm. though i have the 50mm and KIT Lens, most of the time gamit jd ang KIT bcoz of its zooming capability, specially kanang pinaspasay na shot, kay kung mag 50mm ka.. for sure mu cha cha jd ka... hehehehe wla sad IS ang 50mm...
For me the 18-55 KIT Lens is a must have lens...
Pero kung sharpness ug bokeh2 imo gusto... 50mm... barato pa jd! Tam-is kaayo ang f1.8 hehehehe

libog noh? ang duha nalang palita oi... hahahahahaha GUD LUCK and keep shooting..

P.S: pang palibog pa jd, try looking @ sigma 18-70 2.8<----- midrage zoom lens OK sad na cya... i think BANG for the BUCK na cya...

im using the 18-55 kit lens as my walk around lens..pero kung dili ko gdali and medyo still ang mga subjects, i use my 50mm.. nindot pang portraits/bokeh ang 50mm..pang landscape, mid range zoom and nearly everything else ang 18-55mm

18-55mm IS palita bah. dli raka mag mahay. Nangita man kag wide, dba?

) hghahah
to master composition, exposure, etc., i suggest you get the prime lens. you will be forced to move
around kay prime man xa... instead of using the zoom lens and lazily standing there and adjusting the focal length.

ako lang tag-sa2x on ug answer imong questions hehe :P
    1. medyo lig-on xa.
some claimed nga natagak ilang 50mm, payter pa gihapon. naa pud
sa lens like dili mag-acrobatix if mag-ilis ug lens :P

some would say that if nagaras ang front element, ok pa kuno ug
kuha pero prone to flares na imong lens.

    3. although wala sila IS, it's a fast lens. "fast" meaning dako ug aperture. :P
f/1.8 gud versus (more or less) f/5.6 (if 50mm na sa 18-55).
mao niy "trump card" feature sa 50mm f/1.8 aka "nifty fifty" or "plastic fantastic"
read pud diay about sa net kanang minimum shutter speed nimo given the focal length,
ISO and aperture settings na para dili mag-blur.

ayaw kaayo rely sa IS. learn the techniques to steady your shot (ie brace imong kaugalingon,
    hold yer breath, etc)

    warning:
maka-adik ang sharpness sa 50mm maskin at f/1.8... labi na if i-stop pa gyud nimo sa f/5.6.
wala gud nako tagda akong 55-250 pila ka buwan after nakapalit ko ug 50mm. nyaahaha!

i also shot a basketball match sa among sportsfest sa office using the 50mm :P (diha sa
got them with the 50mm :P
