hahaha... what a nice comparison---dollar vs. god.
if we follow your logic, it would then be the same as this:
there is an upcoming smartphone ten times nicer than the iPhone, beats it in all levels. however, it hasn't been created yet---so you know it doesn't exist as of that moment. few years later, it comes out and made available to consumers, your mom bought it as a gift for your graduation and you then show it to your friends... that would make you a hypocrite, a liar, and a cheater then...![]()
God is so GREAT,..just keep the faith,..be humble in His feet,..we are here to share,.its up to them if they will against it,..
Comparison? I thought you were the 1st one mentioning about dollars... with the example you've given, you don't get my point. Let me get this straight...I asked you if you would accept such gift you never thought would exist, and now that someone is offering it to you in front of your face, wouldn't you feel a traitor to your own belief. First you don't believe in it either because it really doesn't exist or it's existence can't just be proven. Some time later, you realize that it really exist. Would you still be stubborn not to accept (the million dollars you mentioned earlier {you phony thing falls short as an example to my point}) such gift because earlier in your life you have been insistent that it never existed? O how easy it is for you to grab it!!! Is it not you case here?
Right? You would still accept the gift?
the question i gave about the dollar thing was my response to your question, thus, that would be my answer. need i explain further? if one would offer a gift that was freely given (though you know at first it never existed), then i don't see any wrong why you shouldn't accept it. if heaven is indeed true and it was offered to me, would it be so wrong if i said yes? that would not make me a traitor to my belief---because BELIEF WAS NEVER EXISTENT IN THE FIRST PLACE.

I've been encountering answers like these from many people like you... and it makes me wonder why you always end up saying "yes."
Whatever your stance is, I just hope that it would not cloud (in the negative sense) you perspective on just about anything. Take your answer to the question at hand... You could have been more academic, intellectual in your answer than being more driven by your obsession or compulsion about not believing in something. It's as if everything that mentions about god, you always have a bad feeling about it. And I hope I'm wrong. Whether God is omniscient or not to anyone, it would have been better if the question would be answered intellectually.
Cause if I were an atheist or an agnostic, I would still be eager to answer and write a book about this question without being compulsive on the issue about God's existence. This is the only way we grow (and I'm not talking about faith yet) intellectually... to be open.
well, you're obviously not satisfied with my answer, and even if i gave you a better answer, i doubt you'd accept it anyway. you may not be talking about "faith" yet, but i feel that that's where you're heading towards. once "faith" is thrown into the argument, it's gonna be a hard one. since all i'll be getting are circular reasonings. maybe there are atheists/agnostics out there who can give a better answer than me. let's just wait.
@chad_tukes and @thethird79
I've no intention taking sides.. I'm not an atheist, but I dont buy into popular religions having a savior/messiah either..
Yet anyway, I can see the point where thethird79 is making..
by virtue of your unbelief, you wouldn't accept the million dollars at all because it never existed in the first place for you. Why would you accept a million dollars now? (or in this case, accept entry to heaven now) There's no such thing as a million dollars even if it was presented right in your face..
The absence of a belief is pretty much unbelief... which makes it hypocritical... but if you were to take a middle ground, like say its okay if a God existed, and okay if it did not, then I'd probably understand why you would accept the million dollars. The thing is, you're not in the middle ground.. thus I'm also curious why you would decide to accept the million dollars after all?
